If you take a stock 6505 and dial up the mA with a BIAS-Mod it sounds way more saturated (the stock bias is way too low on peaveys, it makes them sound cold and thin!). Played through a good cabinet it gives you out pretty much the same tone as this ''modified'' amp.
I think this amp has the bias mod, with an upgraded transformer and choke. As I'm sure you know, mods don't really change the gain structure per se, but just enhance the tone, i.e. thicker, clearer, etc. (well thats usually the intention, many times mods make the amp sound poopy
) For some reason though, this one just sounds more vicious to my ears than the others I've heard
