Hi everyone
Is it better to use a metronome & backing track together or count in your head with the backing track? |

I find the metronome allows for more expression than a backing track because there is no theme set out in those clicks! A good backing track has it's place when you want to put something together that sounds more complete and you're not in a band. And if you're learning a particular song's riff or solo they are invaluable! I see them as different tools - Metronome helps you build accuracy with practice of repetitive patterns Backing track helps you build soloing capability, and the feel of the music You shouldn't need to use them together ... -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
