This is a good excuse to practice! The key is to experiment with rhythm, but you can also try other ideas.

For example the concept covered here:

Yeah man, just go for a 1 or 2 note repetitive rhythmic thing. Maybe put a weird effect on it.
This is how we learn.
I'm learning how to use a daw.
I haven't done home recording on my own since the days of cassette multi-tracks.

Very cool solo. Great note choices and killer ending lick!

I will try and contribute something as well.

Yeah!! I love that futuristic bend at 00:14 and the outro idea. Well done!

Amazing stuff - from 00:20 is extremely groovy and fresh, I would be very proud of this take! The tone is super spacey as well.

Here's mine.

Mixed Track ... [attachment=50495:Cm_Groove___MAIN.mp3]

Slide only ... [attachment=50497:Cm_Groove___Slide.mp3]

I have re-listened to this one on better monitors - and since I know you are improving your recording chops urgently I wanted to add a comment.

Sound is great here but time based effect need more work. I am guessing this is not a priority of yours since you are probably sending dry files to your customers. But basically I can only hear a small room reverb whereas the backing calls for something larger and brighter/ice:er - esp the rhythm guitar sounds dry to me.

My tip would be to listen to what "room/spacial" impression you get from the backing using headphones with fresh ears in the morning - and then try to dial in something similar. Take a 5 minute pause, and then see if your take blends better with the backing.

Thanks Kris. Yeah, nobody wants me to 'print' fx laugh.gif
I do have a pretty big and medium long delay on the slide part - ?
The wah-wah part I want bone dry as a reaction to the processed backing track. I would also place it off to one side in the stereo field. Maybe a little room reverb would be cool. Gab, can you add a touch of reverb to the wah part?

*I downloaded mp3s from my forum post and I do hear my printed effects. Is there a chance/reason that what you guys are getting is completely dry?

This sounds great man! I like the overall feel of your solo. The tone, and ambience fit great with the backing track!

I'll let this one open at least another week to see if we have more takes!

Yes! I can add some room reverb! I hear the wah version completely dry, and the other one with some delay.

So let me ask you this, the "slide" part mp3 that I uploaded here in this thread - is there no delay on that part?

Yes, it does have delay.

We should probably all skip reverb, and then Gab would add the same reverb on all takes. However many people want to choose their own reverb as part of their tone.
