I gotta say I think he's right. The skeleton and bones of all rock and roll and Metal is Blues. It all started from that and just got faster. Blues scales show up constantly in even some of the heaviest music. Those licks are foundational. It's the guitar players job to make them transcendent.

QUESTION: DO YOU AGREE WITH THE G MAN:?

Very true. My focus tends to be a bit tighter as I do a lot of Rock/Metal. I was in a blues band called the DILLON JAMES BAND and played bass for 2 years. I think every guitar player should first learn drums, then bass, then guitar smile.gif But I know thats a LOT to ask. I learned drums on my own which helped me keep time. Then playing bass for two years in a live band really helped with getting rid of "red light syndrome" where you lose your chops aas soon as your in font of an audience or camera.
