Newbie Guitar Question

So far I love it, but I have a question. Which pickup switch setting activates which pickups? Is all the way towards the neck all of the pickups? Thanks! Mar 29 2008, 01:18 AM	Born of NWOBHM, Moderation Team Leader Posts: 8.562 Joined: 9-January 07 From: Stockholm, Sweden	I don't know much about Yamaha but I'd guess it's like: pos 1 - neck pos 2 - neck + mid pos 3 - mid pos 4 - mid + bridge pos 5 - bridge so it's like the pickup activates is the one where the switch is at if you picture the five positions of the pickups (where a position in the middle of two activated both) EDIT: And what Skennington says above if it's not a 5 selector and no push pull volume knob, I'm not sure on the model either, was just guessing it's a strat kind. Then pos 2...... on back to the bridge. You can get some great tone's out of a SSH set up. never played a Pacifica but hope this helped ya man! What I do to be sure about which is plug into your amp and turn it up a bit, make sure your volume is all the way up on the guitar, and then at each switch position, tap the pickups with your pick. Just the pickups...keep the strings muted. If you're not tapping too hard and the pickup is on, you'll hear the tapping through the amp and you won't hear it if it's off. My Roadstar has a SSH configuration and a 5-way switch and it's set up nothing like MikeM posted below.
