Well...we found out that my mother has ovarian cancer, and it is systemic, which means they won't be able to stop it. We knew she had it last year, and she went through a tough round of chemo...but were hopeful that they had gotten it all. She had some lymph nodes removed and they had cancer in them. The good news is that the doctor said there was no more cancer in her body...just in the lymph nodes. The bad news is that because the cancer is in the lymph nodes, it can spread anywhere her blood travels. So, we just have to wait and see if it appears in her brain, lungs, stomach etc. The doctor said it could be a long time before it shows up again...or it could be quite quickly. But it is a matter of time until it does appear somewhere else. What makes it more frustrating, is that she is the healthiest 60 year old woman you could meet. She doesn't smoke...doesnt drink...careful about what she eats etc. This has been a brutal year for my family...really put what is important in perspective. Take time enjoying the people and things you love in life, all in all - we are here for a very short time.
