GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Last Flyleaf Album With Lacy

Posted by: SirJamsalot Nov 21 2012, 09:35 PM

I only just started listening to Flyleaf this past year.. I know, where have I been, right? Lacey's voice to me defines Flyleaf, and after their announcement that this will be Lacey's last album with the band, I'm now sitting here depressed. Just wanted to share cuz that's what's on my mind.

Flyleaf will be holding a live "tweet" in less than an hour - whatever that means, but if you're interested, here's the link:

"I have been beyond blessed to be in Flyleaf for the past ten years, touring with 4 amazing men and the Flyleaf crew, whom I love like my flesh and blood family. They have all given so much. It took everyone on our team to make the beauty in Flyleaf possible. I am honored to have met so many wonderful people who love Flyleaf music all over the world. Your incredible stories continue to inspire me. I am very thankful to have recently become a mom to one of the greatest blessings of my life, my son Jack. You may have also heard that we recently lost our brilliant sound engineer, Rich Caldwell, in a devastating car accident. Now, more than ever, I understand the phrase Memento Mori. I understand that, for me, living life to the fullest in this season means to step down as the lead singer for Flyleaf. I wish the best to Jared, Pat, Sameer and James and I know that as I continue to pursue the highest heights of what I am created for, it will free them all to pursue that for themselves too.

The guys will continue to tour and write music together. I'm so very grateful that they are able to do what they desire and that there is a beautiful and talented, warm hearted girl like Kristen May to sing for them. Because of this, you will all get a chance to see a new Flyleaf show and support the new album.

As I take this first step on a new journey, I pray that each one of you would pursue your highest calling with reckless abandon as well, understanding that sometimes the fullness of life comes in doing things that are only understood by you, God, and the special people God has put in your life that truly love you for you… not for what you do, but for who you are. I love you guys so much and in many ways, I will stay in touch. May God bless you all with healthy hearts, full of courage to weather the journey to your own New Horizons." - Lacey Sturm

Bad news! I like this band... however I didn't hear the previous album too much, I heard it once and I didn't like it... what about this new one?
I'm now checking the new singer at youtube, she can sing but his style seems to be different... let's see what happen...

this is the new singer:

She has a beautiful voice, but it's too polished - I like the raw emotion that Lacey brought out in her singing. But we'll see - it is a different style - perhaps Flyleaf tunes will bring out a similar emotion from this new singer.

The live video is promising... this must be one of her first shows and she did a good job... let's give her more time.

I haven't listened to that much of their stuff, out of what I remember, there was this song called 'I'm so sick' which I liked. Good band nevertheless!

I just brought there latest album "New Horizons" last week and totally agree with you about Lacey. I've only discovered them in the last year also and must say I loved the emotion she puts into her singing. Awesome. I've played alot of Flyleaf in the last year.
The latest album hasn't rocked as hard unfortunately. Although "Fire, Fire" is good.
I guess time will tell with Kristen May. She sounds good.
Here are a couple of their great tunes.

What your favorite song on new album anyone?

yeah, if the latest albums aren't rocking means that the connection between the band was failing... maybe this change could make them again the great band that we liked. Who knows...
