Hi mate!! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.

The principles of our Army are:

+ Improve your technique
+ Make music and solos
+ Have fun
+ Destroy the enemy (hahaha not realy just kidding... )

Hey Gabriel. Firstly i just want to say that I appreciate that you can take some time out each day to help people individually like this. It's awesome and i've never had a private lesson before and this is probably as close as i'll get haha!

Anyway, so I think my main strength lies in alternate picking... but that's about it. It's easier to list my weaknesses haha! What I really wish i was better at was creative soloing. I like improvising but i'm not very good at it. Alot of the time i always sound very cliché and not unique. I think if i was alot better at improvisation, then i would be alot happier with my guitar playing. Also my solo writing skillz would be something i'd love to improve. Maybe i need to learn more licks... i don't actually know that many songs.

something i find with myself is that i can play quite fast but my overall knowledge of what do to do with the speed picking is limited. sorta do the same short uninspired runs alot.

I think it would be good if i was better at riffs and rhythm too...

I think that with some direction from you and also maybe weekly deadlines or even a couple of days would keep me motivated to keep progressing.

I don't have any decent videos of me playing but i will make some on youtube for any lessons you want me to do so i can show you them once i learn them biggrin.gif

Here is my soundcloud though: My best work is probably "initiation". the solos were done on the fly because really i designed the song for a singer but then decided to put some last minute lead over the top of it. the lead lines are pretty weak but i'm planning to redo all the lead guitar once i'm better at soloing.

My favourite band is a japanese band called siam shade (they're disbanded though) , I also really like dreamtheater, coheed and cambria, rise against, tool, guano apes, muse.

My favourite guitarists are: Daita, J petrucci, neil zaza, tak matsumoto, paul gilbert, santana, jerry c, guthrie govan. probably some more but i can't remember lol.

looking forward to hearing from you gab!

Hi flamen! Thanks for your introduction! I just heard your song and I really enjoyed it. Those riffs are fresh and the overall tone is cool. I think that the best way to expand our creativity is to train it composing music every day and learning licks, solos, songs and lessons. Keep going is the key! Your technique is very good so let's start with something at a good level and let's see what happens. We can work on one or two lessons per week, and also on any active collab. What do you think?

These are my suggestions for this week, feel free to choose the one that you like more... (or both!)
