GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ An Astonishing Day Out

Posted by: Smells Jul 13 2008, 10:45 PM

So here in the UK I live in the County of Kent, every year around this time there is the "Kent County Show" which is a huge event held not too far from where I live , the company I work for have a pitch there so therefore I get to go free (as entry is a complete rip off), anyways, thousands and thousands of people go to this 3 day event, many years ago it started as an agricultural show, but these days its a huge fair with hundreds and hundreds of business`s stands, pretty much everything is there.
Its a good day out for the family so we go every year, this year however I had the fright of my life!!

I expect some of you have heard of and maybe even seen this thing, but for me it was a first

TITAN THE ROBOT!!!

I cannot believe I didnt have my vid camera with me, I stopped taking it after a couple of years ago as basically the show is practically the same every year, but anyway there we where walking along when we could here this music getting louder from behind us, so we stopped and waited to see what was coming, spotted the robot sitting on the back of this little cart straight away, so as it came past I was pointing it out to my daughter (picture the scene) "ooh look at the robot" when ..... BANG!! this thing jumps off the back of the cart and starts stamping straight towards us, after a quick change of underpants I of course did the manly thing and took several paces backwards in a rather quick fashion! laugh.gif

This isnt the actual footage but I managed to track it down on youtube and the "act" was pretty much the same

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hc_n77j2T4&feature=related

This thing had a rather lasting impression on me laugh.gif I was in total awe as well as actually being petrified laugh.gif

Anyone else seen this thing first hand?

laugh.gif next thing you're gonna tell me is that it can tune and play a guitar, but there no such thing of course. biggrin.gif

Gotta say bro, that's a first for me. I would much have rather seen your face though when that thing stood up. ohmy.gif laugh.gif

Well, as for tuning a guitar automatically, without you having to do anything else than to touch a button... I'm pretty sure that's already out there... that's kind of robotic guitar tuning.

Wow, I knew they are coming for us,sooner or later laugh.gif

I know people out there in the world are working on making robots THINK for themselves. That is one hell of a dangerous step to take and that is the one step that could lead to disaster. Man should always be able to control robots.

Never heard about that movie. unsure.gif

I think there was a programme about robots and such on either Discovery Channel or some Danish channel some weeks back. I think that was the program where one of the experts were talking about "thinking" robots.

A University in England designed a robot machine that played guitar. I can't remember which uni though. It was pretty cool smile.gif

Sorry - old forum Joke, couldn't resist - we had a spate of threads on the Gibson Robot guitar some months ago and all the mods started making new threads pretending they had never heard of it before ... a little juvenile but we thought it was funny ...
