just a coupla questions.....
Firstly, what Guitar is it? (ie. does it have a fixed bridge, vintage Tremolo or a Floyd Rose??)
Secondly, where is the string breaking? At the Bridge? At the tuning peg?

Check where it breaks, if there's something sharp that could wear it and cut it there.

For guitar's such as the LTD, the fixed bridge trems have sharp notches on the saddles - it's common for string breakage with these things but it's easily fixed by taking off that sharp edge. But it may not be the case - could be something else. As everyone else has said, check where abouts the string breaks.

Well, they shouldn't just break... I'm using 0.9 elixirs and I only break the hi E when it's like 1 month old at least and I do have wide vibrato occasionally. Maybe the string is binding at the nut (this doesn't mean that it should break there, it can break at the middle). On my schecter I once had a setup that caused the hi E to break immediately. I guess you should try to adjust the string hight by the bridge.

did they both broke in the middle?

The fret could be a bit sharp for them. You should polish the frets possibly.

BTW, I also broke not 2 but 3 high E strings (guess what - 10-46 Elixir), and stopped using them.

Generally , you should change strings at least once per month , depends how much you play even once a week.

Woah. I mean... I think the last time I broke a string was back in spring 2005, if I recall correctly. Almost never happens to me, and I don't change strings often, and I do dive bombs, large bends etc quite often.

I have my first set of coated Elixir's on and they stay fresh for a lot longer than normal strings. I've had mine for three months now and they still sound teriffic, not dead like normal strings would.
They are expensive but seem to last longer. I have only played a couple times per week so it's not extremely many hours run into them though.

Oh yeah with Elixirs that period of change prolongs because of special coating...But I don't know, maybe changing more often with cheaper strings sounds like better solution to me.

From cheaper strings ,I would recommend trying out Ernie Ball strings. They are very good!

The thing is, when you are playing at home, one set of Elixir can last a long time, and it's perfectly normal not to change them for couple of months (depending on the playing time) - they should be good. BUT Elixir strings are just like any other string underneath the coating - they will stretch and loose good sound and tuning properties after a while.
One thing tho - Elixirs should last more than one month, so this could be something with the guitar or couple of faulty sets. I suggest you try some other brand, and if you still experience breakage, then it's the guitar.
