Check where it breaks, if there's something sharp that could wear it and cut it there.

it broke in the middle. i think maybe 12 fret im not sure. but i just got my frets filed down

The fret could be a bit sharp for them. You should polish the frets possibly. Rotosound - cheap, chearful.. so you can change strings often - and you get a two high E strings per pack

The thing is, when you are playing at home, one set of Elixir can last a long time, and it's perfectly normal not to change them for couple of months (depending on the playing time) - they should be good. BUT Elixir strings are just like any other string underneath the coating - they will stretch and loose good sound and tuning properties after a while.
One thing tho - Elixirs should last more than one month, so this could be something with the guitar or couple of faulty sets. I suggest you try some other brand, and if you still experience breakage, then it's the guitar.
