Buying Fanned Fret 8-string, with Passive Pickups Options

Hey guys.

I'm thinking of "upgrading" my 8-string guitar setup - and by that I mean selling my Ibanez RG8 and buying another 8-string.

I was looking at the Ibanez RGIM8MH, but the problem is that it has Active Pickups. I think all of these 8-string guitars on Ibanez's website have the actives. I want to get away from active and get into passive again. I want more control over my sound.



My price range is hopefully around $1000+ (USD) maybe less if possible.
Any recommendations on fanned-fret, passive, extended range guitars?
Doesn't have to be Ibanez - any good company.
