GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ The Jem Of The S Series?

Being a big DragonForce fan, I've been keeping tabs on this guitar and now that it's finally been debuted, it looks like I might go back on my resolution to not buy any more guitars for a while. If you're looking for "versatility" in tone, this guitar is it, with HSH config + coil tap there are 9 different pickup selections. Plus the Edge Zero instead of the ZR that's on a typical S. The flame top is gorgeous and the "Kung Fu Grip" is kind of neat. Plus 21-24 are scalloped.

Sounds like the JEM of the S series to me. If it's not ridiculously priced, I'll own one.

White iceman is pretty cool too though.

Damn you to show me that guitar now I have to buy an ibanez guitar, and I always told myself that this is not going to happen...^^

Is there a price out for both guitars?

Yeah it looks great! Not my color though biggrin.gif I was looking for getting S 24-frets - regular Prestige series, once it gets in the stores smile.gif

It looks good, and it doesn't have his name on it, which is always nice.

Posted by: USAMAN Jan 20 2008, 04:05 PM

What happened to the zr trem...thats the real jewel of the s series.

Posted by: botoxfox Jan 20 2008, 04:15 PM

The zr is still on the regular S.

I jacked the photos from a JEMsite post about the guitar and the DF website, they speculate on jemsite that it will be around $1499, but with the beefier bridge, custom PU's, scalloped FB, coil tapping and deeper cutaway/kung fu grip, I'm going to speculate $1699.

All you quality freaks, this guitar is made in Japan at the prestige plant. I think the other prestige S's are going to return to Japan too.

EDIT: I'm a huge fan that the middle pickup is mounted deeper in the body to be out of the way of the pick. That's my one beef with my S/RG. Plus the ultra access deeper cutaway will be killer. I hope it's 25.5" scale. It's nice to have 24 frets on an S. I wonder if they'll roll out a 24 fret S now?

Cool stuff, thanks! smile.gif

If it wasnt for the grip and gold hardware I might buy one tongue.gif

I think the flame is gorgeous and the translucent violet flame is worthy of gold hardware methinks. I'll take a serious look at one of these once we find out pricing.

Unfortunately they won't be in stores until the next year - at least! sad.gif That's how it works with new models. They are on NAMM now, so they will go to production in like 6 months. Than you'll have to wait another 6 months to get them to stores (if you are lucky of course). And considering they have like 10+ new models it will take a lot of timie to get ALL OF THEM in stores, and they will not launch them one-by-one.

This waiting sucks! Ordered Dean 2007 model in July 2007 and the approximate release date is MAY 2008!!! sad.gif So you better get some patience wink.gif

Imo the gold hardware is just awesome..! Really finishes the look of a "Dragon" biggrin.gif
Must have this one.. But if it's too expensive I'll have to go with the new S5470 hehe

Yikes! How did you order one if it's not on a website? If that's what it's going to take, I'd just as soon get it from an online vendor and not pay sales tax (7% on a $1500 guitar is another 100$!)

I might be recanting my "I'll not buy another guitar that's not a King V" statement. Tough to pony up that kind of cash without ever having played it, but I assume they will offer a refund policy. My Prestige RG came set up pretty well out of the box, but even shelling out the cash for a set up is cheaper than paying sales tax tongue.gif.
