Strings are something that doesn't change from beginner to pro. I play D'Addario "EXL120" strings - 9-42 - best for me so far!

By that thin ones I would be afraid tho that they can rip apart lol Got any tips by changing strings so they don't rip ? And how often should I change my strings by the way ? Let's say when I practice everyday like three hours. Oh I found something else were I wanted to know if it is really helpfull. i have that gripmaster thing in medium tension and it helps a bit but i use it alot so if u dont have time for it, it might not be that great but that shouldnt be a problem since its small u can bring it any where. as for strings i use ghs 10-46. my freinds dont change there strings until one breaks but i change them every 2 or 3 weeks but some people change them more often

I have one too - my advice is use it but don't overdo it as its a pretty intensive workout. Well I've used EB's for years, they always tune up really quickly and stay in tune well - used to use hybrids but I'm back on regular now - I find that the heavier strings give a better sound, and I actually like the greater resistance for bending, gives me better control (or at least it feels that way). Last time I put my guitar in for a tune-up at the tech, he put some Elixir strings on it - so far I love them, and think I might make a permanent switch - I get through a set of strings probably every month or two so its no big deal that they cost more.
