You just can assume what the laws are by making theories and proving them by experiments. Thats the way science works. All experiments show that the theory of gravitation as described by Einstein in the general relativity is right. By the way: Some things are called "Laws", but thats misleading. Thats the way i understand physics after 5 semester at university. EDIT: Here an extract from wiki: QUOTE Modern physics describes gravitation using the general theory of relativity, in which gravitation is a consequence of the curvature of spacetime which governs the motion of inertial objects. The simpler Newton's law of universal gravitation provides an accurate approximation for most calculations. Look at the last sentece, here you can see that Reality is for example not as easy as it was described by Newtons LAW. Its just an approximation. That means it works, but not for all cases.
