It partly depends on the style of jazz you're interested in Mark - fusion, swing, bebop...
Some names to check out generally though are:
guitar - Allan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Joe Pass, John Mclaughlin, George Benson, Howard Roberts, Mike Stern, Barney Kessell, Alex Machachik. Martyn Tailor, ...

This is some great list of albums and influences.
I would like to add Charlie Parker as he is one of the best bebop players. You should definitely check him out.
If you are looking for some Fusion and outside playing, check out Michael Brecker and his works. Steps Ahead is spectacular band, I think you will dig it a lot. Look for LIVE IN TOKYO album !

This is scat singing, solfege or even atonal solfege. I had this at Berklee and sing things with similar noises

Check out some Robben Ford stuff, and some Front Page too.
I also recommend, that is not too well known, Ritchie Kotzen's Jazz Albums. They are awesome

I would also recommend looking into som jazz/funk by the guitarist John Scofield..

+1 he rocks though there are some HORRIBLE YT vids
the one jazz artist that i listen the most to is a Danish bassist called Chris Minh Doky, its brilliant (his brother niels lan doky is very good to)
for bassists also chech out NHØP (niels henning ørsted pedersen)
