Technically Audacity is not a DAW - it's a sound/wave/audio editor. As such it is closest to Audition, Wavelab , Sound Forge, etc. However if you are after a different DAW to Reaper try Kristal or Anvil Studio - both of which are free. Another possibility that may work for you is Cakewalk's Guitar Tracks Pro - this however isn't free but you can usually find it at quite low prices in comparison with most commercial DAWs. Very often with a DAW it is, as you've found with Reaper, a case of finding one that suits your work flow.

Cheers,
Tony
