Hello

I like rock, some jazz, I hope to play fusion in a few years.
I don't know the theory of music, I play a sensation. It's hard to progress.
thanks to your site I will learn things , I 'm very happy.

This week I'll post a video , you can evaluate my level.

Hey Mister M - welcome to GMC! biggrin.gif

In fusion you can use the exact same licks as in rock - the only difference is that you are much more aware of the chord progression when playing. With this awareness you can target notes that sound wrong but still end your phrases on notes that sound right. Today's new lick - although very difficult to play - is a good example of that: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Rock-F...n-Outside-Lick/

So my advice would be for you try to play your rock licks over a more fusion sounding chord progression - here is a an example which involves 4 modulations (change of key). For each chord you must change scale: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/greg_howe_techniques/

It's great to have you on board! cool.gif

Ok I see - the lesson example I gave (https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/greg_howe_techniques/) was mostly for the backing track (because it is an example of a fusion sounding backing track).

I would advise to take the licks of any level 4 lesson, and perhaps try using them over a fusion sounding backing track. So if you were to do that over the Greg Howe lesson's backing track, here is the simplified theory (see scales in red):

-C#m7 I play: C#m blues scale/ C#m arpeggio/ C# dorian ( C#m pentatonic)
-Cmaj7 I play: Cmaj7 arpeggio/ C Lydian ( C maj pentatonic)
-Bm7 I play: Bm pentatonic/ B Dorian (Bm pentatonic)
-Bbmaj7 I play: Bbmaj7 arpeggio/ Bb Lydian (Bb maj pentatonic)

---

Since I have no clue about your current level, I realise I might just be confusing things. But we'll solve that as you upload your playing to the REC board! smile.gif

Thank you for the advice.
I play the Lick of the day Gippsy Jazz.
It's very melodic, it is possible to download the backing track ?
