Crazy! I wonder why the eagle let go (not in a bad way), if it was because it got scared or because it was too much weight? And also why it even did it in the first place.

Do we have any eagle specialists here on the forum that might know what attracts an eagle so it'll snatch it? tongue.gif

golden eagles have taken small deer , so the weight was no problem, it was probably the father running at him , we can't hear it, cause the camera guy is yelling, but guess he was probably screaming { you would think }

Ouch, I just imagine my cat being taken by an eagle, but they definitely aren't where I live and we only have about 300 or so in Denmark.

just read an article about the video. experts say its 99% fake cause of some implausible things.
Unfortunately the article is in german.
but both video and eagle experts say some things arent right about the video.
An eagle would still be capable of carrying a chld, but if it had seen it as prey. the bird would have tried to kill the child on the ground instead of taking it away alive.
Most likely the eagle would have aimed for the head as well since the kid wears a red cap. like I said, interesting story.
The video is still pretty amazing.

Interesting, but you said video and eagle experts? What did the video experts say, that it seems like it is something they edited or so?

yeah, it appears to be edited when you play it In slow motion, especially the part where the eagle lets go of the kid.
eagle experts say the color of the feathers show it is a hybrid and therefore was born and raised in captivity, so it seems to be a trainedanimal.

This looks real strange to me and i don`t know if it is through .

The weight of a little child is no problem for the eagle

but the people around and the noise should have made him more carefully and normally he would not attack .

If this would happen in the real wilderness area - the little child alone - i would say yes .

It was no wintertime and we can see green landslide so we can imagine there is enough other food to hunt around

the eagle is used too and experienced with it.

Could be the eagle is sick - kind of psycho - ok i could be . ohmy.gif

Or its an trained eagle.... i know people who do real great stuff with there eagles cool.gif

Or he just didn't want the people come to closed to his nest with eagle child`s huh.gif

i had an experience with an old Bussard he is a bit smaller then the eagle but big enough to be carefull with and he or she mellow.gif attacked me a while until i left the area .

anyway it is not easy to decide its true or not what we see on the clip laugh.gif

okay, on this video at 28 seconds( i looped it there ) when the baby rises when it does not seem to be in the eagles talons, at that same time there is something white as a backround which brings out what appears to be - maybe the strings from the coat , so that could account for the
floating baby

just one hour ago on TV news three students described how they faked the video - it was a project for their university class where they had to produce a fake video that would at least get 100.000 hits on youtube....
I guess they passed!

but it is really a great video

You know how eagles kill cows? They grab them, fly a couple of meters above the ground and let them fall down. then they grab them again and take them to their nest. Anyway this video was made by some university students.
