GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Farewell...

Posted by: David Wallimann Oct 29 2009, 04:30 PM

Dear friends,

This is quite a difficult post for me to write, but I have decided to leave GMC.
My schedule is getting quite busy, and a growing stack of unfinished projects made me take that difficult decision.
I have learned a lot and enjoyed working at GMC for the last 2 years and a half. I will always remember my time here and will miss being part of such a talented staff.

I'd like to thank Kris for giving me a chance by hiring me as an instructor.
Thank you to my fellow instructors, you have been such an amazing influence in my playing!

And most of all, thank you who are reading this. I have made real friendships here and know that my departure does not mean that I am closing the door on the relationships I have established here. Don't hesitate to keep in touch via email and thanks for everything that you are to me!

Much love,

David

David, good luck with whatever you decide to do. A stack of projects is always a good thing to have, just don't let it get you down smile.gif I usually don't respond to these kinds of posts, people come and go, but you've made a really big impact here and I've learned a lot from your lessons smile.gif Thanks. And don't be a stranger, stop by the forum now and again.

This is sad news David, although we must all make choices at some time in our life! Your lessons have been inspirational to me and really helped my grasp onto Modal applications.
I wish you well in all your future projects and hope that you will be back at GMC one day!
I know I won't be the only one who will want to express their thanks for all your amazing lessons here!
Thank you!!!

I wish you all the best with everything that you do my brother,
it has been an honor and pleasure to work here with you side by side,
will stay in touch for sure, God Bless. smile.gif

This has sadened me since the day I got the news from you. It will feel very empty here without you, and to say that you have been a good guy to work with would be quite an understatement.

I wish you best of luck with your projects and musical career, and I hope that one day we will be able to do that song collab we have spoken about...

Sorry to see you go David but of course I wish you well in whatever you do.

In the year I jhave beed at GMC I have always seen you as one of the foundations on which GMC is built.

Though I'm still at beginnerish standard I have always been drawn to your lessons as you always have a great sense of melody in your playing.

Best wishes.

Sad news David - you have for sure been an inspiration to me with your thoughtful modal studies, and have helped to shape GMC into what it is today.

All the best for the future - I for one am still waiting for the follow up to "Deep Inside the Mind" (which I am listening to as I type!)

Don't be a stranger!

This is the first bad news since I joined. The fact that you and Muris were here made me curious about GMC in the first place. I first saw you in Dean Shredder Search and I enjoyed your playing since. I am sure I will hear about you in the future. Good luck with your projects!

Posted by: mhskeide Oct 29 2009, 08:13 PM

Without actually knowing it, you are the most popular instructor on my REC list ! biggrin.gif I have learned so much from you, and whenever I need help with technique or theory, your lessons have always been very thorough, especially your spoken videos !

You are one of the reasons GMC has become what it is today, and if you in any way decide to come back, know that we will always miss you, and welcome you with open arms. Sorry for making your departure more challenging, I just want to tell you how much you mean to so many.

oh what great sadness and such sorrow.. and what a very selfish thing to say of me..

I am sure you've been thinking long and hard about this, so i will just say that i've learned a lot from you, and i've loved your lessons.. there are a lot of them "sticking" out, and the first lesson i ever did on GMC (or should i say tried) was one of yours..

Come to think of it.. the last one i did was yours as well..

So i guess what im trying to tell you is that you've been an inspiration and always a joy to learn from and listen to and i wish all the best to you and those close to you..

Dont be a stranger though.. even though you wont be active as an instructor, we will still allow you to post as much as you want here.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Take care buddy, we'll definately miss you..

Posted by: kahall Oct 30 2009, 02:42 AM

Oh noooes! Man what a bummer! Good luck to you though and hopefully you will check in from time to time. I've almost mastered a few of your early lessons and will still be submitting them to REC. New lessons from you will be missed.

I'm a newbie around here, but don't get me wrong - I've been following what's been going on in GMC for at least a year or two by now, even though I only just registered here.

I've watched many of your lessons, Mr. Wallimann, and I've definitely grown fond of your style of doing things here. Your lessons are top-class, and I definitely believe that you were, and still are, one of the most skilled guitarists in GMC. I hope that you will succeed in whatever you are doing right now and in the future. I believe that you will - because it takes an iron will to become a great guitarist like you. A will like that will definitely benefit you in life's other tasks, too. smile.gif

Reading this news made me sad but hey - life goes on. Keep working hard!

I'll surely learn all your lessons. Every single one of them. Just wait! smile.gif
