Sound: 8 The Misfits are a basic band, no complicated riffs, solo's or anything like that, its all about the simplicity, and they prove simplicity is often the better choice. The melodic and haunting voice of Michael Graves, The ever fast rhythms of brothers Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein and Jerry Only, and the pounding of Dr. Chuds drum work give this album an awesome sound.

Guitars: 7/8 Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein has probably the single fastest downpicking i have ever seen, as far as i know, he doesnt even use alternate picking, even on the fastest of riffs its all demonized downpicked rhythms, And this unique attribute gives there riffs a heavier element, and of course it sounds much more evil. The guitar work is basic, Powerchords compose mainly every riff, but the playing, tone, and style are still unique. There riffs are just always catchy, something you can always headbang to.

Bass: 7/8 Jerry Only is an underrated bass player if i had to pick one, certainly not the fastest, most original, but certainly a damn good one. His writing is based around, what seems to me, the concept of memorable, if aint a cool memorable riff, hes not gonna have it, plus his bass sound reminds of a steel factory hard at work. Its not meant to be stunning or amazing, but you sure as hell should have fun just listening to it.

Drums: 7 Dr. Chud would be the drummer on this album, and he does a great job, he has got an established groove and a unique style, i guess i would have like to see more variety out of him though. Still its an album you pop in and just enjoy, no deep thinking or contemplation, you just enjoy it.

Vocals: 10 Michael Graves is by far my favorite aspect about this album, His voice, although completely different from previous singer Glenn Danzig and current singer Jerry Only, his voice remains the most melodic of all three. His voice is just perfect for these songs, it produces the perfect effect for the Horror Theme The Misfits are based around, his vibrato is near-perfect, his enunciation is amazing, and just and all around awesome performance.

Lyrics: 9 How can you not enjoy these lyrics? Werewolves, Zombies, Hellish Creatures, Demons, And More Zombies, the perfect lyrics for singing along too wink.gif. Although there songs and lyrics are short (rarely over 3 minutes) I Find myself listening to certain tracks 10 or 12 times in a row smile.gif

From "Dig Up Her Bones"

Anything is what she is
Anywhere is where she's from
Anything is what she'll be
Anything as long as it's mine

And the door it opens is the way back in
Or is it the way back out?

Anyplace is where she'll be
Anyplace, she'll see you from
Lies and secrets become your world
Anytime, anywhere she takes me away
And death climbs up the steps one by one
To give you the rose that's been burnt by her son

Point me to the sky above
I can't get there on my own
Walk me to the graveyard
Dig up her bones

I have seen the demon's face
I have heard of her death place
I fall down on my knees in praise of the
Horrible things that took her away
And death climbs up the steps one by one
To give you the rose that's been burnt by her son

From "Resurrection"

Complications inside of me
Reminds me that my heart won't always beat
The ugly face of death that's smiling
At my rotting teeth

I will die here in this sorrow
I was waiting for tomorrow
Palpitate the pulse until you feel
Ay heart explode against the wall

Talk about me, Laugh about me
Cry about me... nail me to the cross
I'll be a martyr for the hated
The weak, the ugly, the lost

I will die here in this sorrow
I won't wait for tomorrow
Palpitate the pulse until you resurrect
My soul from the wall

From "This Island Earth"

Furious the exodus walks
Along the maddening march of death
With the furor and the masses
Whose supremacies is the dominion
Alien bodies stiff and cold
Your inner sane turns numb
You transform into a rage
Too naive to understand

And they go on as the sacrifice grows
We're living on ground zero - fire!
(This Island Earth!)
Target locked, system checked, enter code
We're living on ground zero - fire!

Locked up in a room
Human beings in a cage
The sentence a scienced death
As they pull the trigger of ray guns
Evil blackened eyes of youth
Absorbing life's hidden anguish
Death thrown about the ground
Or those who wouldn't fight

And they go on as the sacrifice grows
We're living on ground zero - fire!
Target locked, system checked, enter code
We're living on ground zero - fire!

From "Mars Attacks"

Their eyes for many centuries
Peered in from space
Sincere the hope, their wise believed
They could teach our race
But yet on Mars, a darker side
Like all things that God made
The tribe of war would heed them not
"EARTH THEY MUST INVADE"

See the fire in the skies
See them devastate the land
Mars Attacks, the warlord chief commands
See the humans fight and die
See our planet laid to waste
Mars Attacks, Monsters invade the earth from space

It was then in our darkest hour
When everything seemed lost
The hearts of men would not concede
No matter what the cost
They forged a sword of sound and steel
Upon the Martian doors
The voice of God would thunder there
And "MARS WOULD BE NO MORE!"

See the Martian cities fall
See the death of the warrior tribe
Mars Attacks, Now their planet won't survive
See their world turn into ash
See the terror on their face
Mars Attacks, cast out as rubble into space

Good review...I've got to say though, I hate this band. I just can't take the constant power chords in punk.
