Hi all,

My PC has Back Orifice sad.gif and i was wondering, because I know there are some immense brains in I.T here, how I find it and remove it.

The PC is disconnected from the internet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sam

Never heard of it....

Is it a virus or worm or something? Because I know pretty much about computers.

Its somekind of software

"Although Back Orifice has legitimate purposes, such as remote administration, there are other factors that make it suited for less benign business. The server can hide itself from cursory looks by users of the system. As the server can be installed without user interaction, it can be distributed as payload of a Trojan horse."

Cant you just delete it from your system?
Or maybe if you start your system up in save modus?

I've never tried or had to remove it from a pc - had to remove various other bits of junk but not BO.

This link may help but I can't vouch for how good it is here .

The main thing you'd need is to play about in the Registry - which you might not want to do - it may or may not work ( sorry I really don't know).

My best advice BEFORE you do this is save your critical data files, dlls, programs etc to a separate source (CD other partition etc) and if all else fails be prepared to reinstall with these files intact. IF you have a good idea when BO infected your pc and you have a restore point BEFORE that again save your data and then reinstall to that date and reload your data.

Beyond that mate I'm afraid I don't know. Anyone else?

Cheers,
Tony

Have you checked with some spybot removers like Spybot SD or Spydoctor? You can find a trial version of the second one and the first one is great and freeware.
