Hi I saw the other topic "How Many Years Were You Playing Before "the Internet""

and before clicking it I saw the preview on the homepage that said "How many years were you playing before...."

and I actually thought it was going to be the question that I am asking now... so that prompted me to ask this question!

</shortstory>

anyway, I'm just curious what everyone has to say! feel free to include any advice for people looking to one day get on a stage... (aka me laugh.gif )

-Chris

I think it was 1-2 years. I had plunked around with my guitar semiseriously for a couple years, then really had started learning how to play and (more importantly) how to play with other musicians at the same time. During that next year I desperately scraped a band together and by the end of that year we were gigging for cash (not much cash) now and again; usually at parties and such. The next year we played a few shows that were a bit more "real"

I played 'Wish You Were Here' by Pink Floyd after 3 or 4 months with a buddy of mine on lead guitar. Played some more times, but only at my school.

I voted 1-2 years, but I just recalled something.

My first gig experience was back in ground school. I was playing bass in Let it be and Pretty fly (for a white guy) at a concert we played in front of the parents. Neither of us had any experience with playing instruments prior to that, and it's probably a shame it was not filmed, because I don't think we had any idea as to what we were doing.

If playing acoustic guitar with a girl singing in front of 200 people counts, then it's about 1-2 years.
