I belive you have mentioned that you use edirol orchestra for some of your lessons???(Correct me of i am wrong) I also have that and use the vst in FL studio....
I have no idea on how to use it to creat good sounding orchestral arrangment.... Do you have any tips? -------------------- My Gear

I know that there are many other better Orquestal Samplers but I find this easy and fast to use while I'm composing and making demos. I use it with nuendo as a Virtual Instrument and I asign every midi track to one of its instruments. What do you exactly want to know about it? Gabriel. -------------------- My lessons

I have been playing around with it a little and i know how to ame the sound but i dont know how to create the music. I can here the music but i dont know how to write it down or what notes to use to make it sounds good.....
If ou know any good progressions or anything that sounds dark let me know..... I will continue and play with it and see if i come up with something -------------------- My Gear

Ah... you are talking about composing. You can start with the same chord progressions that you play in your guitar... the best way for me is recording it with a keyboard controller vía midi. You can just record some minor chord progressions and then record melodies over it. Each note of each chord can be asigned to a different instrument group (Contrabasses, Cellos, Violins, etc).
I suggest you to search in Andrew's theory board topics about Harmonizations and Minor Tonalities. I also recomend you a book called "Orquestration" by W. Piston where you'll find the characteristics of every orquestal instrument and also many Orquestration analisys, examples and tips. Another way to improve on this is searching for Midi files of bands like Rhapsody, Symphony X, etc, open it in a sequencer (like Nuendo or Sonar) and try to analize how they arrange the Orquested parts. Or for example contrabasses harmonized in octave, violin in thirds, cellos in fifiths, etc? |
