Here's a playthrough I did of Hammer of Hephaistos. The guitar is tuned to drop D, mainly because that's the way I recorded the riff. When I recorded the lead parts for the album I was in standard tuning but only used the low E string once so it was no problem to play the whole thing through using Drop D anyway smile.gif

From 0:47-0:49 there's a picking run that I discussed on my last video chat which uses legato and alternate picking together. This sort of idea was inspired by Jason Becker.

There's some 'outside' sounding ideas in this track too.. I didn't approach it using theory though, just trial and error with what sounded good to me.

For that ascending picking run at 3:09 I'm using groups of 7 and shifting it up through the D Minor scale.

The low bend that you do in the main theme (0:05 and 0:10) is really cool!

They are indeed. smile.gif

Your Outside Bending lesson gave me a new appreciation for how damn hard it is to maintain constant accuracy, especially while applying vibrato.

Thanks Marius.. they're tricky to play because of the rhythm displacement going on !
