Tripeggio With Pinky Stretch (Tripeggio Lick) INTRO: This lick is based on and similar too QUICK LICKS #20. However, in this one, we are going to use a PINKY STRETCH to get your pinky accustomed to making a long stretch and sticking the landing. Don't be thrown off by this lick. Yes, it's a pinch difficult, especially if you have not spent as much time on your pinky as you might have. It's a good chance to get your pinky up to the condition of your other fingers. It's also a very fun lick to play and it sounds quite impressive. So you can pull it out when folks ask "do you play guitar?". BAM throw this at em Here is the tablature. As always, start SLOW, don't worry about playing this fast. Just focus on playing it CLEAN Speed is a byproduct of precision. Just like previous quick licks, this lick works as a warmup, practice and solo lick. Don't over stress on getting it just right, or fast enough. This is just about learning the lick. Once you have it you can start it anywhere on the neck to play it in any key. *NOTE: I'm using my first finger on my left hand to slightly press against the first string in order to mute it. You need the A string to resonate enough for the pinky tap to be heard so don't over mute with your right hand. Also, sticking the landing with the pinky is CRUCIAL so try not to cheat and use the first three fingers if at all possible. 21.gp5 ( 2.41K ) Number of downloads: 114 BACKGROUND / COMMENTS This lick is not connected to a backing track. You can play it with a backing track if you like. Anything based in the key of E should work just fine. For our purposes here, just playing with a metronome or click track is more than fine BTW: The shape change make take your hand a moment to get used to. |

My take Sarge! Great riffimg idea! I tried to crank up the speed a little bit and it will rock when I get smoother transitions in the future!

Take 1 for scrutiny Todd. This was a tricky one and my pinky blister pulls the string sharp because it catches onto the string

Nice!! I gotta be honest, I lost my mind and made a quick lick that should have been in lesson 430 in bootcamp. But, since bootcamp has reached completion, I thought maybe i"d put a crazy lick or few in Quick Licks. I'm honestly deeply impressed that you can play this. It has a HUGE stretch that requires the pinky to stick the landing each and every time over and over and over. Hand fatigue sets in quick unless one is quite careful on technique. I plan to try to keep quick licks a bit more on the "quick" side and less on the crazy side. Now and then I'll throw something crazy in, and this was one of the crazy ones. Assymetrical, stretch, Econ Picking, all the bits that make a lick tricky stuffed in to one lick. I was probably drinking Death Wish Coffee when I wrote this. Great coffee!! But it's a pinch strong.
You sorted the pinky, the econ picking and the assymetrical pattern all at once. NICE! This lick, like the one before it, makes a great speed drill. You can shred the crap out of this with enough repetition as you get 6 notes for only two pick strikes. So it leverages the power of the pull off to let you attain some sick speed. Keep this one in your bag of tricks!!! You just.. LEVLED UP!!!! Still our very very TOP DAWG in QUICK LICKS!!!!! Todd Take 1 for scrutiny Todd.
