GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Sonata Arctica

I'm looking to get a set of the band's albums since they were there for me in the hard years and I can finally afford it. I just realized they re-released Ecliptica. Personally, I prefer the original version, at least vocals-wise. Instrumentals are really nice in remastered version, though. Which would you say sounds better to you? Maybe it's nostalgia but I'm leaning towards 1999 edition.

Hi Adam! I didn't hear the new version but I had the original one and I loved it. It has many great songs. One of my favorite was Replica which was a beautiful ballad.

Did they record the album again or it's just a re-mix?

Hi! I too wasn't even aware of it until yesterday. It's out on YouTube. There's a promo mix with bits of each song and it's 15 minutes in total, if I recall. I'm not able to link it from work but it sounds completely different, as if it was re-recorded. Replica and Letter to Dana are both great ballads but it's hard to choose one favourite, even per album.

It looks great but I could never play this kind of pattern, even the easier gallops in Crazy Train are too hard for me. I can only play one-string gallop and reverse gallop.

I should pay more attention to rhythm playing since it's my biggest flaw, I think. So we could work towards it smile.gif
