I was wondering, is there any competition 2 guitarists can has? As in something you can just challenge someone to? Basketball has horse, skateboarding has skate, what do guitarists do to test who is better at playing in a certain genre?

I've seen the video where Marty Friedman and Paul Gilbert are playing together where they have a lotto ball machine. Each ball has a letter on it. You have to call out a name of a song that starts with that letter and play a part of it and then the other player also has to name a different song with the same letter. If they can't they lose a point. I thought it looked fun.

"Head Cuttin' Duel" is a term i have hear used before, i think it had something to with Steve Vai in the 80's or something.

I also liked the game where she was humming the Kiss songs and they had to guess which songs they were and play them. Paul Gilbert said if it was Def Leppard he would have easily beat Marty lol biggrin.gif

Head Cuttin Duel is the first part of the guitar battle between Vai and Ralph Macchio in the movie Crossroads. The beginning of it got turned into the beginning of Bad Horsie. It's on the Elusive Light and Sound compilation.

Not really any different than a typical guitar duel thing...one guy playing a riff, the other coming back with something similar in difficulty if not necessarily the same.
