Does anyone ever try EVH 5150 III 50W or 100W?
It seems it is good for metal after I watch some review from youtube.
What do you think?

Pretty sure the guys over at Rig Talk who are a bunch of tube amp snobs thinks its a good metal amp, i rhink it's becoming the industry standard for metal

As most TUBE SNOBS will tell ya, THAT IS A KILLER RIG!!!! smile.gif

Really great head and great cab. A bit cheaper/smaller than the big daddy of the line, but more than plenty for home and bar gigs. The 50 W will peel paint of the walls.

I have never tried it but I think that the guitar player of this Argentinean band is using one of those and the tone that he gets for modern metal is killer....

The EH 5150III is a very dynamic amp in either the 50W or 100W package. No boost needed (although if you do use one it does add alot of character and attack as any boost would). biggrin.gif

The 5150 is an incredible amp. Most people love it not just because of how it sounds, but the clarity is unreal! It's the standard in metal music these days, and you can hear one on hundreds of metal albums that have come out in the past two years.

This whole video he's plugged into a 5150 2x12 combo:

I've not got any experience with these amps ( although I did play through somebody else's once during a gig.. must have been the 1st model ever) but there's no denying their heritage as one of the most popular and respected amps out there for metal. I'd definitely be counting it as a high possibility if I were in the market for an amp again. smile.gif

The EVH 5150 III is a killer amp, and not just for metal. A lot of big country guys are using them too believe it or not. Just an all around good amp. I think of it as a very, very refined Peavey 6505/5150. I don't own one (yet) but I've played them many times and was always angry I didn't have the funds to walk out with it.
