I don't know how many times I've seen Muris Video. I can't get that tune off my head. All I can say is that I find it MESMERAIZING, MAGIC. He comes out with something different all the time. All the contestants have amazing skill but it doesn't matter what they play, jazz, blues, rock you know what to expect it doesn't happen with Muris to me he is the most refreshing, original guitar player and because of that he'll win. laugh.gif That's my modest personal opinion I hope not to upset anyone but it's my truth wink.gif

Looks like it's good competition for you, hope you'll win this time smile.gif

I wish you all the luck in the world Muris !

I like all the entries alot more this year.

Gottardo's still blows my mind ! lol

Posted by: chast May 18 2009, 12:54 PM

Good finalists, but I expected a lot of other players.
Congrats to Muris again smile.gif
Just listening to Damjan Pejcinoski's entry, really cool stuff in there, sounds great.
One of my favourite entries from the beginning was (and still is) Silivio Gazques Summer Night, glad to see him in the finals.
Public votes are ok, but too much shred for my taste.

Posted by: Velvet Roger May 18 2009, 01:14 PM

Congrats again Muris smile.gif

Posted by: Jose Mena May 18 2009, 01:25 PM

The judge selected finalists are truly great guitarists, but I believe Muris tune is more original and has something new to offer, I think hope the judges will see this and give him the victory

Posted by: David Wallimann May 18 2009, 01:50 PM

Congrats Muris! :-)

Muris , you'r entry was my favorite one! biggrin.gif LOVED IT! You will win! biggrin.gif

Posted by: NoSkill May 18 2009, 03:46 PM

I just listened to all the finalists. I didn't get a chance to hear some of them before as they were lost in the clutter, and admittedly I just looked at the GMC entries and the ones where the voting went bananas...however, Muris, wow! Wow! I didn't appreciate all the trills the first time through. Wow. Good luck, Professor!

Posted by: Gus May 18 2009, 04:10 PM

Congratulation and good lucky Muris!

I wish I could go to London and see the finals rolleyes.gif

Posted by: berko May 18 2009, 04:24 PM

I really like the Summer Night one, thumbs up for Muris as well... but I simply cant believe that Jose didn't make it!!!

Either the Hungarian guy, or the young chap from Middle-America (he is a good shredder though and certainly can choose some exotic scales) or the one who's called Aleksandros something (that means: 3 of the 4 public choice vids) could have been easily omitted. Washed Away has a very catchy, low gain crunch chord melody, wonderful 8finger tapping lines, crazy solo and so forth....

*sighs* Well... I guess there are too many good takes that have been left out.

Once again, Muris is the man here!

Posted by: Tolek May 18 2009, 04:28 PM

Muris, congrats! I´m sure you´ll be admired so much, even more than now, on the show. I wish I could be there just to see you again. smile.gif

Very true, public voting is what they needed for better traffic which means
more sponsors etc but 4 might be just too much if you have only 12 in final.
IMO they REALLY need to find some other way
to get more viewers and let online judges (or judges with votes combined)
to pick top 4, not only votes.
Ok, I do understand the manner of this competition and it's not fully
on technique, playability or composition, there must be some personality, even image/look etc.
But lets take a look at other "Idol" competitions,
I think there are ALWAYS judges only, right?

I think American Idol is only judged by the audience.....theoretically anyways. To be honest I hate that music is made into a competition. I've stated this before. Music is subjective.....as are many things in life. I know that Muris and the others are in this competition mostly for exposure so that they can continue to make a living doing what they love.....Music. I just wish there was a good way to judge these things......it's impossible. I loved Ivan and Jose's entries. I just think it is impossible to say that one is better than the other. It comes back to taste. Congratulations Muris......your composition is one of my all time favorites and I hope it finds it's way to your new album. smile.gif

Posted by: ItsMe May 18 2009, 09:12 PM

Anyway. Congrats Muris. Hope you win. Next year it would be great if our other instructors also make it.
All of you had great entries.

I also pretty much hate competition in music just like you Monte
but they are running and it's nice opportunity for promotion,
to meet some important people from music industry, to be seen at the end etc.
Tho not the best will win cause there is no best. smile.gif

Aye, though I hate to make the distinction; but some may look at this as a guitar competition rather than a music competition

Indeed, it's Guitar Idol and not "best song" contest or som. smile.gif

Bravo Muris, I knew you will end in finals !

I will make another prediction now...

I can see you or Damir winning this year. Damir's tune is Greg Howe style, you are more of Satriani style, so lets see what judges say in finals smile.gif

I believe the composition plays a significant part, technical ability doesn't make someone a better guitarist, but using techniques to great nice melodies is what counts. Music is subjective so you'll never know who has a better composition, only which one most people agree is the best.

Another important part of this competition is the buzz on a certain guitar player, an example is Danielle Gottardo, he might not promote himself and get 500 votes, however the judges know that there is an interest in him, I mean all of us know about him right?, he was a finalist last year, and I have seen his name in a few places. And of course his entry was amazing, so I had no doubt he'd be in the finals.

The great entries that didn't make it will still show the world the talent out there, and little by little will be known for their skills on the guitar (by skills I mean technique and composition).

I'd like to wish Muris good luck, although I truly believe you won't need it, your entry is unique and it really stands out.
