Check out Zsolt's new lesson, "Surfing With Satriani", and then post a reply to today's topic. Which is your favorite Satriani Album? ...and why?

PS Mine is Crystal Planet! I am blown away by the compositions and the different atmospheres on that one

The Extremist.
Just too much goodness for one album right there.
On the other hand , i love many satch albums.
The Extremist , Surfing , crystal planet , flying in... and super colossal is easily my favorite satch records , and some of my favorite instrumental records too.

Flying for me. I remember when I first heard Flying in a Blue Dream, I decided to become a solo guitarist.

Surfing because it's the only Satch album which is 'perfect' from beginning to end ! Had hell of an impact on me when I first heard it.. the strange melodies stood out the most, which is quite something for a guitarist ! cool.gif

I can't say any one album as I've been a Satch fan for a long time. I remember reading an interview with Satch and he was talking about his inspiration for the the Forgotton part II on Flying in a Blue Dream. He said he was watching T.V. at about 3:00 in the morning when one the those charity commercials for feeding the starving children came on. He watched the sadness expressed in the faces of the children and he wrote it right then. In my mind, nobody is able to to convey such raw emotion experienced in real life with musical composition at the level Satriani does. He is the master in that area. cool.gif

I found out about Satriani through Engines of Creation, so that album is bound in memories for me, but Surfing with the Alien is legendary.
