Good morning GMC!
I do believe that you have stumbled upon the notion of 'steampunk' and if not... Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, fantasy, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s. Steampunk involves a setting where steam power is still widely used—usually Victorian era Britain or "Wild West"-era United States—that incorporates elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology, or futuristic innovations as Victorians might have envisioned them, based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, art, etc. This technology includes such fictional machines as those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or the contemporary authors Philip Pullman, Scott Westerfeld and China Mieville. More details can be found here -> Steampunk on Wikipedia Now, 'why did Cosmin bring this up and what does it have to do with guitars?' is a question which I believe you are having while reading this post. Well, aside from me being fond of steampunk stuff, I discovered this extremely cool article, describing a detailed process through which a certain gentleman transformed his strat pickguard, giving it a steampunk design which I found extremely cool! I am seriously thinking about trying this with my JEM pickguard, so without much further mumbling, take a look below and maybe you'll like it too. Who knows what cool designs you could come up with if you'll try something like this for a pickguard? How to create your steampunk guitar pickguard This post has been edited by Cosmin Lupu: Jan 19 2012, 09:51 AM |

That's awesome I'm going to customize pickguards on both guitars soon, it's very effective, and unique, maybe not with steampunk motive but something else that is also effective
