I use SIT's. 9 guage with the Low E of .046 rather than .042's.
Nice heavy string for chuga chuga and the 9 guage feel for lead. Love them! Kinda inbetween a 9-10 gauge string.. http://www.sitstrings.com/show_product.php?id=7 Hi all!
I'd like to know what type of strings are you all using. Lately, I put some strings starting with 0.10 on the E stringg and I used a lot of bending and my fingers is easily suffering from it. I was wondering if I shouldn't use 0.09 (For solo). I just wanted people's advices on that matter. What kind of strings are you using for solos. Thanks a lot, guys. Cheers! Hybrid set 9-46 or even 9-52 can be great for metal riffing/soloing, and 10-46 is a standard guitar gauge, often labeled as "light" as well. I use 10-46, used 11-52 before.

I use EB's 009 thru 042 most of the time. I also have my guitars drop tuned a half step. I find bending, wide vibrato etc is quite painless with that setup.

I was using 009-042 for a long time
and recently I switched to 010-046, I find them both easy for bends and soloing so it's very personal matter, if you feel that 010 really causes you problems then try with 009, why not. It's just that 010 gives more tone compared with 009 but many players use 009 and get great sound anyhow. And I use Elixir strings of course. I was using 9-42 (GHS) for ages, recently switched to 9-46 (Elixir) which are great but it seems that I will go for 10-46 next time

Thanks a lot, guys! That helps. What is Elixir? Is that a trademark? A brand of strings - coated with polymers so they last a lot longer than regular strings - I like 'em a lot! -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
