Hey man smile.gif

Well for natural harmonics you simple just rest one of your freting fingers of the 6th or 12th fret and pick with your right hand gently smile.gif Dont pres down to hard with your fretting finger, just rest it over and you should hear a cleaner haromnic chime. The edge of U2 uses them to good effect in my of his tracks.

Now for artifical harmonics they can be a little trickyer! I used to be able to nail these pretty easy on my old guitar, but on my new one im find them a little more tricky. The idea here is that you fret a note with your fretting hand as you would normally, and when you pick the note (with a downstroke) you dig you thumb in a little. If you do a search gabriel and pavel to name a couple have done lessons which use this technique! They sound great to add edge to your playing !:)

Hope this has helped a little. wink.gif

For start try placing your left hand finger over any of strings on the 12th fret of the guitar (I suggest highest E).Just gently touch the string don't press it down or something..Put for finger over it and gently let it lean on the string..While doing that pluck that string with your right hand (with pick)..You will get one of natural harmonics wink.gif

make sure you use the bridge pickup. look up thread discussions on holding the pick. it takes time to get the feel. eventually you hit them pretty unconsciously. but if you really want to be good, you do eventually have to memorize node/harmonic patterns. otherwise you can play with the metal trashcan scrapping sound that you can get from special pickups and setting the high harmonic band on your equalizer way up. that way you get them no matter what you do. but that makes my dog run to his cubby hole in the next room, and my cats start whacking at each other, so unless you always want to chase dogs away, and break up cat fights, and replace windows after neighbors throw bricks though them, you have to learn the node thing so you can make them without the tone that makes people want you not only die, but to suffer first. Andrew has some stuff on that in his section.

Harmonics are also tones high in the audible registry that exist with the main tones and give them certain color. This way all the instruments have their own "sound" - because of these tones.
