I'm looking to drop $1700-2100 on a new AXE. I know I will need to play them both to make a decision but I am interested in my Metal Head Families opinions !!! Should I get the ESP Horizon FR or the Jackson SL2H ?? This is the million dollar question ?? I play metal as both of these I'm thinking are shredders and should give me some good marriage time. both companies make good guitars BUT for that kind of money you can get a better axe then both of those like a PRS (not a SE) used if you look around or you could even find a Bernie Rico Jr used. But if I had to choose between ESP and Jackson (which I own both) I would take the Jackson. here is a bernie rico jr at a good price http://www.ebay.com/itm/USA-Custom-Shop-Be...c#ht_878wt_1304 (not mine of course but if i had one i wouldn't sell it lol ) This post has been edited by SpawnSC: Aug 28 2011, 04:35 AM |

I was looking at the PRS Torrero but it was an SE. I've never heard of the B. Rico but it looks and sounds sweet. I appreciate the response. This would be a hard decision for me. But since I already have a Jackson, I would go with an ESP I guess. haha I hope you find what you are looking for.

I vote for the ESP! I have used Jackson and it's a very good guitar but if I would buy a metal guitar I would go for the ESP one...

I've tried a few Jacksons and ESPs over the years, and overall I like ESP more.
I owned a ESP Eclipse II a while back, great guitar |

What's the Jackson Soloist SL2H like against the ESP M-II with neckthru? It looks pretty close in comparision, both well built shred machines.

Don't overlook Ibanez RG series, very good value for money and the neck's are built for warp speed

It was a very hard decision. They are both awesome guitars. I think cause I have the Jackson RR24 I have gotten used to the 14-16 radius fingerboard. Also I like Seymour Duncans as I replaced the EMG 81 in my RR24 with A Seymour Duncan Blackout. Not that I could not replace the ones in the ESP or that was my deciding factor I just liked the way the Jackson felt in my hands and I felt like the Clean tone was a little better. I was playing through a Marshall 1960 cab with a jvm-210H. Just a metter of preference. Hell I may get the ESP a little later and have them both. - A real pretty Blue !!
