Hey everyone!

I guess I should shed some insight on my recent life.

To start things off, I should mention that I recently turned 20.

About two years ago I moved to Hermiston, Oregon to live with my mom and play in a band. While I was there, I lived in a pretty rural area with a lot of farms and I constantly made trips to lakes and and forests to fish, etc..

After being there for six months, I moved to Alaska to go to college. I lived next to the forest. My University, although right in the middle of the city, was actually encased by thousands of trees(I worked on the landscaping crew and we actually won an award called 'Tree Campus USA" for having more trees than any other University in the USA).

I left Alaska after a year and three months to go stay with my girlfriend's family for three months.

I returned back to the Los Angeles area around seven months ago to help my dad's ex-girlfriend and her kids stay afloat financially; and upon returning I realised that I dislike living in cities now. I don't have a problem spending time in them to play music or anything like that, but I found that I would rather live in the countryside, or in a forest. Has anyone else here experienced this? If so, how did you re-adjust to the city. Thanks! biggrin.gif

I don't have any tips for helping you re-adjust to city life, sorry about that. But your story reminds me of a saying we have here in Alaska and it basically goes, If you have lived in Alaska and then moved away, eventually you will find your way back.

My boss told me that all the time when I was there.

Edit: I looked at your profile and saw that you were from Big Lake, so it nullified my question.

I have a friend with a cabin on Big Lake. It is a beautiful place. I am sorry that you live so close to Sarah Palin, though...

Coolness smile.gif Yeah I have a house right on Big Lake as well, Right across from the North shore campground,I may even know your friend.
as far as Sarah Palin goes , no worries , we really dont hear too much about her locally since she decided to Quit as Governor, she is too busy being a political cheerleader I guess which is fine with me as long as she doesnt run for office laugh.gif

Yeah. I am not on his bandwagon, but if you take away all the Fox News broadcasts he is doing a damn good job. I am a political science and economics double major, so I have studied him a lot. I can say that he is doing alright.

A lot of people think he messed the economy up, but he is in the same situation as Calvin Coolidge; and most people can't be bothered with history to remember the depression. Coolidge inherited the depression from all the damage that Harding did during his term. It is the same between Obama and Bush. Bush did something no other leader has ever done before, because people thought it would destroy their nation. They were right. He cut vast amounts of taxes during war time, rather than impose more taxes like he was supposed to. That is the real reason behind the current economic failure.

As political economists always say, "We are all subscribers to Keynesian economics whether we want to be or not."

Truer words have never been spoken, and they apply to everyone 100% of the time.

Good to know that you are smile.gif - sadly the economists that seem to be in charge of the central banks aren't. BTW I'd trace the current economic crisis back to Thatcher and Reagan and suggest that Bush largely exacerbated what they had already done.

Back on topic - I lived most of my life in cities but now live and work in the Spanish countryside. I far prefer to wake up to bird song than car alarms in the morning. I visit cities though to see friends and relatives in the UK - all of whom live in cities. As the cliche goes it's nice to visit but nicer to return home.

Maybe politics should be left to political forums?

just what do you think he is doing good at ,and don't sayit's bush' fault like every body else
at what point does a CEO start taking responsibility
and this [problem was started by the government forcing these banks to make these subprime loans , that unaturally inflated home prices
as barney frank defended his lover who worked at fanny mae
as fir this being bushes fault -maybe some, but read this if you do have an open mind
http://www.boortz.com/weblogs/nealz-nuze/2...y-back-machine/
and as far as Keynesian economics-- how is this been workin (world wide)

I know that he did, but he did nothing to prevent it, which is just as much of a problem. Damn Obama for not doing better; but I do favour him over the current and last GOP candidates. I may be a nihilist, but the moment they didn't stand up for the trooper getting booed for being gay...
I understand that people have issues with homosexuality and that is none of my concern. If they want to be the next Commander in Chief, they should at least stick up for those who are risking their lives to keep their wars going.

Yes AK Rich, after this post I believe I shall leave the politics to their own forums. Thank you for the redirection.

As for the Keynesian "fail". I agree that it is; but only because it isn't being properly employed. When it was used correctly it got us out of The Great Depression. The biggest thing barring us from this is party separation. Which is unfortunate. dry.gif

"BTW I'd trace the current economic crisis back to Thatcher and Reagan and suggest that Bush largely exacerbated what they had already done."

I will agree with that a thousand times over.

EDIT: Keynesian Economics and the Depression video.

P.S. I am open for discussion, just PM me in the future. Politics are Off Topic here.

yes, I have experienced that, I used to live in a country house my parents had for a few months at a time and I miss that. But eventually you get used to city. But it's always more peaceful and overall good for you to spend some time in nature

It is a weird thing for me because I grew up here in Los Angeles. The city was all I really knew and then all of a sudden I catapulted myself into a peaceful area. It seems like I will have to move to the country and just visit the city when I visit family. Or tour, if I get that lucky.

I had a strange experience lately - I felt tired and I wanted to run away, for a few days of course at the mountain house my folks built. I NEVER understood why they always said, we're going there alone because we want to rest. I wanted to hang out with my friends not rest, but now, I feel like that place is truly a sanctuary smile.gif and YES I want to go there and rest a bit myself!
