Hey everybody
I'm looking into buying a delay pedal. I basically want something with a lot of variety of delays however I don't want my tone to be colored too much. I like the features on the Line 6 DL4 and the Boss DD-20 however I have heard that both pedals really color tone a lot.
Digitech has a new line of high quality pedals called hardwire, they all have true bypass, and are supposed to have great tone. I am considering the DL8 from them, I have only seen a couple of demos and sounds good.
Does anyone have any other suggestions about which delays to consider. I want to spend under $250USD and I don't want just a plain analog delay, I would like something with modulation etc but a looper is not essential.

Thanks

I think Boss DD-20 is a great option , really good quality versatile delay pedal...And you can use it as a looper too.

thanks for the advice guys
I've narrowed it down the dd-20, the carbon copy, and the hardwire dl8...I'll only buy the carbon copy if it sounds alot better than the other 2 because it has very few options
The new hardwire pedals seem amazing, I plan on buying the metal pedal they have even if I don't get hardwire delay

It would be wise to test those 3 pedals...Those new hardwire digitech pedals look very good , but I don't know...You should really test them to see if they are good...Something smells like a marketing trick to me there but I had positive experiance with digitech pedals in the past.. smile.gif

I've tried the hardwire series and they don't live up to the hype at all. Sorry but the only distortions i love are handmade ones. Check out this site for amazing pedals. proguitarshop.com

I own a Line 6 DL4 and a DD20 and they're both quality pedals! Even though I like the setup about the Line 6 better I gotta say there's something about the DD-20 that makes me like it even more! Also the TC Electronics is said to be a good one, haven't tried it though...

I ment from dry to wet tone. For my sound the effectlevel on the delay pedal clearly colours my tone. smile.gif

Hi,
I have the MXR Carbon Copy and it's the best delay i've ever owned. I've had a bunch including rack one's and the quality of the sound is out of this world. Price is not bad either. True bypass, modulation, very warm organic delay IMO the best for the money on the market to date.
