any tips on how to slide? like wen you slide your pick down your neck. It always sound scratchy when I do it. What's the proper way to do it?

Heaps of gain for a start, maybe turn the treble up as well.
I tend to put the pointed part of the pick inbetween E and A strings, or side on over those strings.
But it doesn't really matter too much, don't know if there's a 'proper' way to do it.
