Hey guys !

I decided not to buy the expensive PRS, but purchased a beautiful Fender American Standard Stratocaster Arctic/Olympic White* for around $500 ! It's an amazingly comfortable guitar to play, and the sound is outstanding ! With the special Fender Bullet strings, you can slide from the first to twentieth fret without even feeling the string !

If you have checked the link, you'll most likely think I'm a complete idiot buying a plain white guitar like that, which is why I changed the white pickguard with a Standard Stratocaster White Pearl Pickguard S/S/S* where the three S's represent the three singel coil pickups on the guitar.

The result is a divine white-bodied Strat' with a marvellous pearl pickguard, and I will most probably post some pictures when I get back to Norway ! Don't judge me too much for giving my guitar a 50-buck makeover, I mean the price was already quite low !

Congrats on your purchase mate! American fender strat is always good guitar choice! You got it for a cool price too!

Thanks, Bogdan ! I'll be taking pictures in a few weeks time when I come back to Norway ! We're going to London after two days at home, though


I tried to keep out of the Fender mentality, but I now realise there is a reason so many people choose Fender ! One of my favourite guitarists, Dave Murray (Iron Maiden) also uses Fender, and I tried to make mine look like his by putting the awesome pickguard on...


I don't disagree, I actually bought the guitar before thinking of changing the pickguard, but I just thought the guitar would look far too simple with the body in exactly the same white as the pickguard... I didn't want another body, as that guitar was the best one I played (even better than some for $2000), so I guess the pickguard was the easiest and best way out !



Thanks, Emir ! We're staying at hotels, so the amplifier is out of the question, but I spend endless moments just drooling over the guitar because of its beauty ! Needless to say, I play it constantly, even with no amplifier !

Thanks ! I think Yngwie's one might be a bit more cream white, but I did think of him when buying it I think it looks a lot like on of the Fenders Dave Murray uses.

Awesome guitar bro...I have the exact same one! Yngwie's is in fact Olympic white...just very aged so it has "yellowed". Your new guitar is the same color combo and neck as Jimi Hendrix's main guitar...the one he used at Woodstock!

nice guitar man i have the same one in olym white i love it. how you get should a good deal on it those guitars here go for like 1.1k new

Yeah, I thought it was pretty cheap too ! That's why I allowed myself to change the pickguard for some extra cash In fact, Fenders are sold for minimum around $1500 !

Yup...left handed and played a right handed strat with the strings reversed!

Allegedly, he could play just as well with a right hand guitar flipped onto left hand position, but with strings not reversed. I read a quote by eric clapton somewhere where he said he came for a jam but didn't have a guitar, so he borrowed one of claptons and just played it with the strings the wrong way round and was just as good. Can't remember where I read it though, so I might have imagined it.

They didn't manufacture left-handed instruments back then!!! Clapton brought the first one over here to give to Jimi at a show at the Albert Hall but they never managed to meet up and Clapton kept that LH Strat all these years and sold it for Charity a couple of years back!

White Strat, Maple Neck, White Scratchplate????

I actually changed the white pickguard for a white pearl one, and now it looks a bit more like Steve Vai's JEM signature Ibanez, but in Fender Stratocaster version ! Dave Murray of Iron Maiden sometimes plays on something like that
