I thought this was a really cool, thrashy song and i was wondering if anyone would want to help analys this songs solos with me to find out what scales and arpegios martys playing. Probably just D minor but i heard he uses alot of other exotic scales too.

That's Friedman, not Poland or Mustaine?

Fantastic song from a fantastic album - I get chills when I hear this.

A lot of the harmonies come from the fact that Mustaine writes atonal riffs (to my knowledge he does not think in scales etc.) - and Marty has a hell of a time trying to match his solos to this (+ by the fact that Marty also wants to add some "outside flavor" tn an already "outsided" song! blink.gif ). The result is phenomenal.

I'm with Kris here, one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums. While Marty's solos are amazing in this one, the thing that sets this song off is Mustaine's killer riffs(this song has tons of em!), that compliment Ellefson's, and Menza's awesome rythems.

Yea and even tho Dave doesnt use scales his solos are still cool, especially his solo in holy wars

Did any of you guys know that the intro is actualy the arpegioes used in Call of Ktulu by Metallica played in chords.

anyway, is anyone interested in analysing this song with me, i think it would be really cool if anyone knows which arpegioes or scales he uses

Yeah, Mustaine used a lot of the ideas he had while he was in Metallica on Megadeth songs. I'm pretty sure he wrote almost everything on Kill 'Em All and the album before that, got kicked out, and Metallica still used his stuff for when Kill 'Em All was published except that Kirk came in and Kirk'd everything up.

Yea, kirk played what dave did at the start of the solo, and then took over with his own stuff

Dave also wrote a few songs on ride the lighting and claims to right leper messiah

This is a great song. The intro is all D minor with the fifth moving up a half step each time they play the arpeggio. I think that is a very good way to build some tension. I haven't really looked at the solos much so I'm not sure exactly what they are playing.
