This plugin called the MIX CHECKER allows you to get a better idea of what your mix will sound like on a mobile phone, (crucial these days) in a car, on a home stereo etc. Given that so many people will be using a mobile phone and it's very crappy speaker, or their earbuds, a bit less crappy, but very exaggerated in terms of frequency response, it's a good idea to get a rough idea of what a mix will sound like on various devices. In the "old days" a pair of Auratone (those crappy little cube speakers) was all that was needed as they represented the worst listening systems. These days, we have a huge variety of playback systems and most of them center around some sort of mobile device. The mix checker is a very handy to for spot checking a mix to see if it will "travel".

It also allows you to set 5 or 8 inch drivers as compensation, and allows you to select headphones, and even put the mix in mono (an old trick that is very handy) before sending it to a simulated playback source. So if you are mixing on your headphones, just click headphones and it will compensate the audio.

I'm using the trial version but I'm very tempted to get it. It's on sale just now.

Anyone using something like this?
