Hi! Thank you for taking the time to mentor me!

- What are your guitar goals?
Be able to write songs, learn to play on tempo, and even learn some basic lead and such
- How would you like to you see yourself in 5 years (related to music and guitar)?
Playing more instruments then just the guitar, songwriting and maybe even have a band by then!

I work a lot but i can give atleast 30 minutes to an hour a day and maybe even more on the week-ends!
- Do you have playing live experience?

- Which are your strong and weak points with guitar?
Strong points: I play alot of rhythm guitar and have good studio knowledge (FL studio, Cubase, Guitar Rig)
Weak points: I'm a bit sloppy, i dont play lead very much, have a hard time being on time with backing tracks
- What do you know about music theory?
I know the basic of how to find my notes on the guitar but that would be all

Hi mate! Thanks for this info. I'm checking the flatliners while I read your info and I can say that they are a cool band. I'll check more of their music in the next days.

Based on your goals as musician, we have 3 main topics to cover on this first stage:

- Rhythm guitar

I could see you playing my skate punk lesson. You have a good level with punk rhythm, you can play fast riffs and strums over backing tracks. You just have to put extra attention to timing details to make your playing tighter. What about working on this lesson?

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Sum-41-Style/

- Lead guitar

I don't know your current level playing lead guitar. You plan to play rock/punk/alternative, so it would be good to master this techniques:

Alternate picking - Legato - Bending - Vibrato - Dynamics

The first task on this topic is to choose a solo lesson that you like from the archive, learn it and share the video playing it here.

- Composition

The idea of this topic is to be able to create your own musical ideas and arrange and produce them in the style that you like more. Before we start creating music, we will dedicate some time to analyze your favorite songs. Please make a list with 10 songs that you like and I'll tell you what to do...

Great!

The next step is to analyze each of those songs. You need 4 things to do it:

- A notepad
- A pencil
- At least 1 ear
- Spotify or Youtube

The analysis is simple. You can use 3 columns, the first one is the structure, the second one explains what happens (arrangements), and the third one is about the theory (scales and chords used). I can help you with the concepts that you can't get. Please start with the first song and share what you get here to let me check it.

After analyzing all these songs, you will have a big idea of the main structures, progressions, and arrangements used on your favorite tunes. It will be a good guide to start working on your own stuff.
