I am considering buying a les paul. I have wanted one for quite sometime now but I have not been able to afford on untill recently.

I am trapped between waiting for a les paul standard or classic or buying a les paul studio, as below.

Thoughts? I dont want to purchase a les paul studio only to want a les paul standard because the studio does not meet my expectations.

Should I wait and just buy a more expensive Gibson or are the studios good?

The studios are, in my opinion, very good smile.gif
I'd still wait to buy a more expensive Gibson if I could, because they're better after all..
But I've played quite a few studios, and for the price they're great smile.gif

Good playability, good sound and good looking biggrin.gif

If you really like the standard better than the studio I'd wait! smile.gif

Both sound great though.

The Gibson Les Paul Studios imho beat every other guitar in their price range. Tone and build quality are unmatched for that much money...
I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard but I bought mine used for a lot less money, so you might consider buying a used guitar. Also try to play the guitar before you buy it (especially on the standards) because Les Pauls tend to sound quite diffrent to each other...

Sure if you have the funds to pay for a LP Custom, THEN GET A CUSTOM!
I have yet to hear a better sounding guitar...

I`m not too familiar with the sounds, but IMHO the standard looks muuuch better biggrin.gif
Black LP studio is alright, but I have yet to find a finish that I would enjoy wearing on stage. A sunburst / honeyburst / darkburst etc. standard is a wet dream smile.gif

Both guitars are great, you won't make a mistake getting any of them. If you like the studio get it, but if you like the standard better, get that. Be patient, and don't ever buy something you don't want to.
