GMC Forum _ Competitions _ Winter Blues - Results!

Well it was cery finely balanced, but Tony Micke, Smells an I have decided against giving it all up just yet. Truth of the matter is we were all inspired with your amazing entries, there wasn't a bad one among them. In fact, I am personally so inspired to play guitar now that I have locked myself in my basement with food, water and nothing else - I'll be emerging sometime on 2009 to see if I am still married
I'm pretty sure the others feel a new inspiration for guitar and I am now going to announce the winners!
So, in first place with an inspirational verse is:
IslandGuy
A brand new Pandora PX4D will shortly be winging its way to you!
In second place with a philosophical message of quiet simplicity is:
Audiopaal
You will be recieving a Shredneck soon
And in 3rd place, with the logical approach is:
Leedbreak
You win an instructor CD of your choice!
Honourable mentions go to Tubsuu and Mr Guitar Tube for their sophisticated reverse-psychology approaches, and to Ivan for his fine Blues tune.
Dammit, they were all good so I feel bad for not recognising each and every one of you!
And finally, for me at least, the funniest entry was definitley from ztevie
Can prizewinners PM me their addresses please?
Thanks!

Haha, yeah that's really well done
Trond Vold called me and said I came in second place and I was laughing my ass off
when I realized what the second price was
I still can't believe it though, there were many really good entries for this competition
so I'm just happy I even were taken into consideration
I'd just like to say "well done" to the rest of the participants as well, good job guys

Congrats guys !!! Great prizes you got and even better competition this was!

I must say, I'm stunned. Thank you very much.
I've been quietly lurking around here, taking in as much as I can. This is such an awesome site and community.
As for why I submitted the entry (in addition to the awesome prizes of course), I must say I could empathize with the sentiments of the contest's purpose. Last year I bought a new guitar (Godin Freeway Classic) after a long hiatus -- if only I had never stopped (sold my old Strat copy when I found myself ignoring it too much), I could be so much better today.
When I found GMC, I loved what I saw and joined. It's just what I need to fill in the many gaps of both theory and technique. I expect I'll be here for quite a while.
Thank you once again.

Congratulations to the winners!!
Now.... Where am I? It's dark, and damp... I'm in Andrews basement too, playing guitar like frenzy while his wife is knocking the rhythm track on the locked and sealed basement door, I hear some vocals now and then, both high pitch and growling. Peeking at Andrew but he's too much into playing he doesn't seem to notice.
Two pair of eyes stare on the floor and manly men continues to play, only sign of life besides the massive hand movements is the drip of saliva that finds its way down their lips to the puddle on the floor. It's mindless nirvana, a silent understanding between the two god like shredders, no body control but only what's needed to actually play, no mind control as usual. Two guys, two PODs, two guitars, one thousand cans of baked beans and a new found lust for guitar playing and a terrible GAS in the air. Not from gear aquirement syndrom, it's the beans. As far as we're concerned, the rippng licks cut like knives through the thick gas. It's a huge event! It's gastronimical!
Now, to follow after that pointless paranthesis - To all the competitors, YOU ROCK!

Congratulations to the top 3!
Unfortunately I can not play guitar anymore.. I was so sure to win all 3, so I sold all my guitar gear. Was gonna plug the Shredneck into the Pandora and shred away.
But the judges decision now gave me such a hard winterblues, so I'll never pick up a guitar related object ever again!
Warning: The above statement includes a certain degree of ironi and an attempt to seem humoruos, which should be considered when you react with disgust and anger toward the same statement!

I certainly will kaznie_NL. It's step one to my master plan of playing like Muris. Now I'm keeping my eyes open for a contest where his custom guitar is the prize.

Congratulations to the winners and a big thankyou to everyone who entered. They were all of a very high quality (well maybe not Mr GuitarTube ) and it wasn't easy choosing between them.
Now that I'm inspired to play again I'm off to lock my wife in the basement until 2009 (Andrew - you're much too nice ). If she's lucky I might remember to give her food and water occasionally.
Cheers,
Tony
ps - I'll be busy for the next few days - have to dig a basement
