Hi, your site is the absolutley brilliant! I wish I'd have found it years ago! (How long has it been going?). I must admit I began to stagnate a bit (!) with my playing, and fell into the trap of just practising the same old thing again and again and wasted years. Literally! I bought loads of tab books, looked through them and put them in the book case, never to be read again! Sound familiar to anyone?!!
GMC has rejuvenated my will to practice, as I can be learning a bit of blues one day, and some metal the next. The videos help a lot - it's very much like having your own private tutor - which I guess is the whole point of the site!!
I like all forms of music (oh, except Dance and Rap, ugh!!), but am mainly into rock, metal etc, and am really impressed with the lessons with regard to this 'genre'. I'm finding that trying out lessons from different styles is really forcing me to ask questions about what I'm doing and how, and working out the theory of the pieces really makes it easier to play in a similar vain, but elsewhere on the fretboard. I often found with other teachers that they would get you to learn a piece 'parrot fashion', but without understanding WHY you are playing what you are playing, it just gets frustrating.
Anyway, less of the blurb....I'm a big Rush fan, and Alex Lifeson is a much under-rated player. Why, I don't know, but he's been churning out amazing guitar work for over 30 years!!
Could we have lesson or two either on playing in his style (which, I must admit, can be quite varied), or on a particular piece with some theory, ie La Villa Strangiata, 2112 finale, solo from 'Working Man' etc etc?
I'm a little surprised actually that I've not seen his name mentioned more on the site!!!!
So, keep up the great work!!!
