Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi there, if you listen to Mate's main video, listen to the riffs starting at 0:20. You'll notice that after playing one fretted chord, he drops off the bottom E string next. I think you're playing 2 fretted notes/chords/ before pulling off the E. Also, it sounds like you're playing notes not chords there.

In the single note phrases I think you don't hang on each note long enough, you're taking your fingers off the frets too early.

The chords on the last section. They're not sounding properly. It sounds like some notes are not being fretted or unwanted notes are being added. They're pretty basic barre chords so there should never be an excuse not to get them sounding 100%. I also noticed you're accidentally fretting the bottom E string during that bit too. You don't want to do that because that string is dropped.. so it won't sound congruent with the rest of the chord. Not only that, but that string isn't fretted during those chords in that lesson, it's only played as an open pedal note in between the chords.

Hopefully those points will help !

P.S. I've just had another look at the the original lesson and it seems I was wrong about the single note thing !

Mate is playing single notes on the second run through of that bit and chords on the first bit.. I thought he played chords on both.

What I was saying is that it sounded like you were playing single notes... and it turns out you were playing single notes because that's the way it was meant to sound ! ><

Hi mate! This is a good take and it just needs some adjustments to sound perfect! The first riffs has some differences in the groove, you sound a bit delayed in some little parts. Comparing your take with the original, I think that your tone is less clear, and one of the reasons is that your picking should be stronger, this would give you more clarity and definition. The groove issues continue in the whole lesson, I think that there is still room to make this sound tighter. The part that starts at 00:55 also need so sound more defined, you should continue practising those chord riffs.

So good job, but keep on working! smile.gif

Hey mate smile.gif I think the guys have already pointed out the important things, so all I will say is that you should take it easy and focus on the details at slow tempo.

Keep rocking!
