Some of my friends(girls laugh.gif ) like Tokio Hotel. Personally I think there ok but I wouldnt die to go to there concert. I've heard there one of the biggest in germany but I mean I guess it just depends on what you like. I'm more of metal.

A lot of people think that TOKIO HOTEL are really bad. Me too. biggrin.gif I don´t like them at all. However, they merit respect because of their age. Some of them aren´t 18 yet and are already famous over the whole world. They began playing music in a band when they were 13 or so. At that time, the vocalist´s voice changed and he sang really bad. Recently he had problems with his vocal cords and consequently he couldn´t speal anymore for some weeks. biggrin.gif I don´t understand why girls begin to cry when they see them. They have no reason. biggrin.gif

The other band I don´t know. tongue.gif

Did you know that this "awesome" "guitarist" and this "incredible" "vocalist" are twins? xD They don´t look like monozygotic twins (from the same mother... ehm, I mean egg).
I have never seen the guitarist playing a solo. xD

Check the other band' myspace (Cinema Bizarre)... It took me more time to discover if the singer was a man or a girl... This remembers me to the first album of Poison.
I can say that Tokyo Hotel has some nice voice melodies in their songs and hits. I don't know the other band but I read that they are the main competitor of Tokyo Hotel.

Posted by: bladzerok Jul 3 2008, 03:55 PM

for cinema bizarre: they sound pretty good, but its not my style, and they are about as ugly as tokyo hotel( i can't believe they're all guys ohmy.gif ), but they have more talent than T-H, at least in my opinion

Posted by: Tolek Jul 3 2008, 03:58 PM

OH MY GOD!!! They aren´t guys... Their music is also not very good in my opinion. However, much better than the TH. biggrin.gif

I truely hate Tokio Hotel smile.gif I just do laugh.gif

The only people I know of ( not know in person ) that like them are some 10 year old kids probably, who think that they are cool when they listen to them. Dont ask my why they think that huh.gif laugh.gif
Anways I hate them and everyone I know hates them too laugh.gif smile.gif

Btw yeah I thought the singer was a girl too dry.gif laugh.gif

That was funny Gabe, sometimes I also think that I am too old to understand emos and these new movements... the difference with the early years of Glam Rock is that, even though band members dressed like women and had funny hairdos, they didn't cut themselves only because, I don't know, it's raining! wacko.gif I remember a few years ago when The Smashing Pumpkins and similar bands were really hot... it was a pretty depressing stuf in my view... but these emos are crossing the line man biggrin.gif

AHHH! KILL IT WITH METAL!!!

honestly, I can't stand those kind of bands, modern or old. At least the older ones attracted full grown and good looking women.
They look ridiculous! It's all so fake an planned out. You know there's a problem when a band spends more time in front of a mirror then they do in the rehearsal studio.

anyway, if you guys think they are impressive because of their age, look at a band called Black Tide. They started in their early teens, and even though the drummer is around 20, the singer/guitar player is 15! When he was 14 they played the main stage of ozzfest

Tokio Hotel is not really the music i listen to .. maybe i should as their are really popular here in france as well. I have heard a lot of kids in school choose german now as first foreign language. I think it's good, if a band has (temporarily) an effect on this .. smile.gif

I have seen live 3-4 songs from Tokio Hotel on an open festival here in paris. I think it's a band which does music to entertain and does not want to compete with Petrucci or Pavarotti .. and entertain they do really well in my opinion.

Did not entertain me, I found them boring, banal. I am pretty confident that if you strip away all the processing, and ignore the hair and clothes, and you just listened to them in a garage, most everyone would agree that they suck. They will come an go and be forgotten, and the marketing execs will move on to the next product to sell to that demographic group.

laugh.gif If the Tokyo Hotel reads this... I think that he is going to cry... ohmy.gif now serious...
I think that music is also entertainment and show.. maybe they have more show than music but each person has different tastes and it's cool to have variety. Don't you think? I can say that their music sounds with excelent quality (talking technically about the sound), the instruments are very well played and there isn't any note out of scale or pitch. I don't think that this is harmful for kids. biggrin.gif

Talking about Music + Show... for me Jane's Addiction was a cool combination of both... and Gun's & Roses too.

Posted by: Fsgdjv Jul 4 2008, 02:01 AM

I think all these "emo/glam or whatever this kind of music is called gets too much ****. I'm definetly not into it, but it sounds like standard rock to me (ok, I've heard one song with them, once, but still) and it's not that horribly bad that I feel the urge to commit suicide or anything, it's just kind of simple standard rock that doesn't have anything special (imo) but they are definrtly not bad enough to get people to "hate" them. It's standard rock music, nothing more, nothing less imo. Nothing to get upset about, except the image they have wich is horrible.

Well, to me they are just like Boy Bands from the 90's. I see or hear very little difference, except that the Boy Bands generally have better singing voices. And if they were demented, kept it more to themselves.

you and I may be saying the same thing in a way. You find them just being the same old same old, nothing new. But you see standard rock in them. I see them as same old same old, but I see them as boy bands with new hair doos and different outfits, sort of like putting new clothes and hair on Barbie and Ken dolls. Maybe we are focusing on different aspects of banality, but that is what we both see, just nothing new or creative. Britney got old and went crazy. Boy Bands are not boys anymore, now we call it Emo, have to pretend it is something different to market it.

I personally would prefer that the kids go crazy when Muris enter the stage, but i can understand that an average audience have problems to get access to more advanced music. Maybe for some of them it's a starting point ..

I don't know the bizarre stuf.. But I know Tokio Hotel and I don't like it tongue.gif

But I do give those boys some credit anyway.. Just holding a band together as teenagers must be an achievement.. rolleyes.gif

I think maybe that some of those boys could be able to make some good music later in their career.

Why do guys who look like chicks get all the girls, first Poison now these clowns!? laugh.gif It's these kind of poppy bands that really make me appreciate bands like Mastodon, Opeth, and BTBAM, just the fact that Tokio Hotel and Mastodon can both exist in a world that isn't in complete chaos amazes me! laugh.gif

Posted by: shellshock1911 Jul 16 2008, 02:16 AM

I guess I am gonna be the first to say that each member of Tokio Hotel looks like they would have nothing to do with the one next to them. First thoughts at the picture were, a band with an emo/scene kid, gangster, skateboarder, and a redneck.

Posted by: Caelumamittendum Jul 16 2008, 02:30 AM

They are honestly not really my cup of tea.

Posted by: shellshock1911 Jul 16 2008, 03:26 AM

And I notice the guy on left and right (skateboarder and redneck) look pretty athletic and in shape, while the emo/scene kid is pretty scrawny, and you can't tell with the gangster because his shirt size is way too big for him

God, I just can't get over the shear randomness of this picture.

Still admire you for killing the TV smile.gif

These bands (the pre-packaged ones) can be or be not, they are just nothing to me. Uninteresting. A void.
I can't say if they are good or bad because I don't care. I don't listen to them. I'm not interested in forming an opinion even.

I do have a weird fetisch for the old school glam bands like Sweet. And Poison even. They are so cute in their effort to be bad guys and still they look so innocent. They give the impression that they don't take it too serious themselves and I like that.

Posted by: Canis Jul 16 2008, 12:48 PM

I don't like Tokio Hotel because I really don't think kids should be world famous. It's just not healthy. I bet it produces a HUGE amount of ego and selfishness in them, even before they have to pay taxes.
And their clothes and two tins of wax in their hair don't help either...

Example: Look at The Jackson Five tongue.gif None of them is pretty "right" tongue.gif
