Must be a weird feeling for them after playing 33 years together...

Quite a few actually...R.E.M: being the biggest breakup for sure.
But these bands also broke up:

It seems like nobody noticed the White Stripes breaking up, since Jack was so busy with other bands wink.gif

Not exactly my favourite band or music, but this song kicks up some old memories smile.gif

The Scorpions announced their retirement in 2010, so it's not really a breakup...the final tour was supposed to end in 2011, but now they recorded another album (with covers and old songs of their own) and keep touring until 2012. Gonna see them live in May smile.gif I wonder if they'll continue recording and touring afterwards wink.gif

I didn't realise Faithless broke up. My girlfriend Ninna got me into some of their stuff.. I happened to catch some of their performance at Glastonbury on tv one night and it was awesome !

On the subject of Glastonbury festival.. did anyone ever see any of Coldplay's live set this year ? I'm not a fan really but it was amazing.. it just goes to show that no matter what genre of music, a real connection and energy can be created during a live performance and you can't help but be swept along. That's the sign of a great band if they can do that. cool.gif

Yeah, Faithless broke up in March I guess and released a final live DVD.
Ben, just seing you made me think of another band: What about Judas Priest? I mean, just like the Scorpions they are on their final tour...and didn't KK Downing leave the band this year?

Yeah, they were supposed to be on their final tour but then news broke that KK was retiring. Since then Priest have said they'll do another album and still play live shows but no more massive tours. smile.gif

I was pretty bummed about this. I never got to see them live and they were always one of my favourites.
