I´ve seen that clip two times and I can´t get enough. It sounds so awesome, Muris! Good luck in the competition. I´ll have to save some money for my ticket to London.
Edit: I´m watching it for the 3 time now. And in the bed I´ll watch it again.

Awesome as always, Muris! Will have to watch it a couple of times to grasp it all, that's for sure!
Best of luck in the competition!

That's wonderful Muris. It's so musical, not just technical. I really love the track. Thank you for sharing and good luck for the contest. This year, the drummer should manage to play his part...
BTW, isn't it winter in Bosnia ?

Wow...
You never fail to impress me. This one is absolutely beautiful.
So much control, such a touching melody.
Thanks for sharing your gift with us bro, this one really touched my heart!
Posted by: UncleSkillet Jan 1 2009, 11:40 PM
I loved everything about it!! Musical arrangement was just brilliant how you had that melody line and would come back to it once in a while. Kind of like home base. I got a since of music from your culture mixed with it also that made it even more interesting. The Wah pedal made me want to jump out of my skin (I mean this in a good way). When you hit certain notes I could really feel you passion.
Got to go have another listen. I wish you the best of luck and I will vote when it is up.

Awesome composition and sound Muris. Best of luck for you
Posted by: enforcer Jan 1 2009, 11:49 PM
First of all great tone, great melody great composition...
but I got a question in the harmony at 0:48 are you using a chorus at backtrack? Its like backtrack lead is played with some comma, as it is surely sounds powerfull it made me wonder...
And just a final question are you using 0.11 strings? as they are brand new in the video they seem a little thick...
I think you dont need luck with this one, you obvilously created your own luck with something like that...
Man, you are great

Well seriously I loved this I think its way better than your Dean Shredder Contest entry video, it's very melodic and repetetive, and seriously rich in emotion... Really theme melody was just like singing like "final dance.." That was really great...

True!!
Problem with Dean contest is timing,1min top and it should be shred
so I couldn't waste too much time on melody.
I mean I could have, but result would be something else.

yeah when I listened to it I though the same, you have so many skills how you could possibly fit them in a 1 min take and try to turn that to a song...

I was really fascinated by the great melody and all that you did with it, and like UncleSkillet, I was going to comment on the slavic or gypsy scale sounding elements, which is exactly how traditional music gets passed on for centuries, only now it's way more modern and spectacular!
Best of luck, and with some luck I will catch you in the U.S.

This is beyond anything I've seen/heard in a looooong time.... It's just so.... "Muris" all over
I noticed on your facial expressions that you really felt the music ^^
One question though, do you actually record that in one take, or is that something like the second, fifth or fifteenth take?
You're truly an inspiration!

And I just want to let you know that I still listen to Junk Medley every now and then, just because it is awesome, and I will be listening to this many times as well!

Muris, if you get to the finals, do you think you could sign me up for the guest list? I would love to see this live.
You know, the only thing that sometimes bothered me about your playing was your own style... but you really managed to do your own thing in this song. I mean, you always do your outstanding thing, but this time I've never heard anything comparable to this! The emotion in this song is so strong. I love it

Brilliant as always, I love the tapping licks in the solo, And the whole song has a very Steve Vai feel to it, In the sense it has a very exotic atmosphere and is just stunningly beautiful.

But you've got a deal about suit and mask

Muris,
When you write something like this do you write/tab it out and change things as it evolves or is this improvised somewhat? This seems like you spent quite a bit of time really composing this piece. Am I right or did you improvise alot on this one? Can't get the melody out of my head, I'm loving it!!

Main theme is mostly composed, yeah, with few licks
that comes along the way as you play it.
But solo, specially those longer runs, I have no idea what I played,
I usually start from certain note and I aim for the last one,
everything in between is dictated by hands.

When it comes to winning GI.
I think that the best entry should win, whether it's you or someone else. However, your entry is so much better performed and composed than the other contestants (no offence mr Präntare and Evans) that I believe you deserve to win. I love those trills. They really enhance the melody and the balkan influences can really be spotted!
Great work!

wow muris, you blew me away with it!! (it happens to me a lot, when i hear you play, lately )
you deserve to win and it should be easier for the drummer to get it right
Good luck

No offense, but that percussionist was very good. Everyone makes mistakes and Muris piece was crazy to count
Unfortunately the consequences of that mistake affected Muris. This piece is still not easy, timing wise. But easier (especially for the other musicians involved). I do really like the melody and structure of it and I have to say that the timing still is very attracting, I mean - it's not DA DA DA DA DA DA DI!

Your 6/8 sounds very odd because of many stroke dissplacements so I don't suggest these drummers. Either bring a drummer with you or play over a backing.

Even though I originally thought the 6/8 was a 9/8, After listening to it a few times, Its not that bad. I think given a few hours of practice a drummer could keep that time pretty well, The trill sections seems like it would be the more difficult part to keep time with.
Or you could just hire Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, then you could play in 15.74/8 and it wouldnt matter

This composition has this "something", of which many great talented guitarists sometimes keep forgetting... it's not only a brilliant technique of playing - it's a fantastic melody. I just can't stop listening to it
Any chance for an mp3?
And for sure you should put it onto your upcoming LP.

A great composition Muris! The song structure reminds me of the way Satriani constructs instrumentals, although the style is quite different I enjoyed the underlying Balkan sound to the piece and you have created a good balance between technique and soul. You've earned my vote - good luck for the rest of the competition!
