The level of innovation is mind blowing, it seems the actual music making was just a small portion of his genius.. Maybe that's the key? He was also heavily exploring the backend of the technical side of music production.

Figuring out some catchy riffs must have been a walk in the park for him.

Great article, thanks for sharing. He experimented and innovated so much. I don't think I've ever seen that bracket that allows you to play the guitar like a lap guitar shown in one of the patents. Very cool stuff. The loss of EVH is one that continues to be painful.

My pleasure to share.. Yeah he was amazing and I am really missing his playing. He is definitely one of the main guys that inspired me to pick up the guitar and probably my favorite guitarist.
I don't think I have ever seen that bracket either. One thing I related to was how he preferred an unfinished neck. I have an 80's Kramer with an unfinished Warmoth neck and I absolutely love that neck. Sooo slippery! I like it better than the necks of my Prestige and S series Ibanez guitars because of that but also because of the super jumbo frets. I also use a green abrasive pad on the back of the necks on my Ibanez guitars to try to make them as slick as that unfinished Warmoth neck. It works pretty well but I need to make a few passes with the pad every once in a while to keep it slick.
