Have You Ever Been Discouraged, and how

Most of the times, thing just "sum up" and the trigger is one small event, so our motivation towards music seems to be missing somehow. I never felt that discouraged by anything in particular, but there were phases when I stagnated a bit, mostly due to general state of the music scene in my country. Somehow it seems it is made that way on purpose, just so musicians cannot make a living. But, guitar is what I play, and this is what I will do. Hmmmm, I've been discouraged some times by people who never took the time to look past what's going on around them. In Romania, the music scene is very corrupted and viced by low quality stuff as well so, musicians are having a hard time to make a living. But that could change, only if something would trigger a mentality change regarding what the responsible people promote! Nothing is impossible I think! All we have to do is think outside the box - good things happen when you least expect them, starting from the craziest ideas. Look at GMC - Romanian musicians would never try to come up with activities such as those going on in here so, this is what makes the difference. Things like that make you shake your head and wonder what to do next.. Also, band members dragging their heels and making your life harder than it needs to be is frustrating and often makes you think 'What's the point ?' I was ready to get it over with. I was more stressed than depressed though. It wasn't a deep depression though. But actually, my music was the only thing that kept me going. Music lifts me up. If I'm feeling down, or had a bad day, I take it all out on music. I just play to my heart's content. With time and prayer to Jesus, He helped me through it. Usually these events are crawling with people, but this one was a bit smaller and thus not so crowdy. We headlined the evening and thus performed at about 1.00 AM Honestly speaking, I was a little scared about the fact that all those crazy motorheads would be either dead drunk or sleeping in their tents - ad my fears came true, not entirely though. We had a crowd of about a 100 people, or maybe less, but they were so active and crazy that they made us feel good too. The conclusion is that it doesn't matter how many people you perform towards - it's all about the energy that even 4-5 people may transmit. In a crowd, be it big or small, you have to find those people to whom you instantly click from the very beginning. Use their energy and build on yours so that you may draw more and more people into that state. You'll eventually notice a mass effect, but you have to be aware of what's going on in front of you and act in consequence. This thing comes with experience, so the more gigs you perform, the more you'll be able to understand the crowd and be able to work with them This post is meant to give you hope, so smile mates - the stage is actually a wonderful thing to experience! My older guitarist friends have lived in an era when they had to play audio cassetes and use their fingers on the and itself in order to slow it down so they could listen to their favorite solos and thus be able to learn them note by note we are lucky and not in the same time. We are simply under an information siege these days. Too much and suddenly you don't know where to start and what to do first. Places like GMC offer balance this is how I see it. Personally that hasn't ever affected me or my performance. My moto is to play exactly same for 1 or 10 000 people. It's just sometimes when I'm hoping much and then it doesn't turn out as it supposed to - can bring you down.
